Speaking to Tuoi Tre Online on the evening of October 22, Ms. Duong Bich Nguyet - Director of the Lao Cai Department of Education and Training - confirmed that the unit had decided to temporarily suspend Mr. Bui Van Huan, principal of Sa Pa Town's Boarding Secondary and High School for Ethnic Minorities, for 7 days to inspect and verify the press's reflections on the shortcomings and limitations in the principal's management work.
On the morning of October 22, the Department of Education and Training established an inspection team led by the department's leader to inspect and directly request the school and Mr. Bui Van Huan to write a report explaining and reviewing the management and direction work related to the information reported by the press.
During the inspection, the department also directed the organization to immediately overcome shortcomings and limitations.
By this afternoon, the school had completed repairing the electrical system and installed additional light bulbs in 55 student dormitory rooms, with two light bulbs in each room, ensuring adequate lighting.
Install two water taps according to the design/each room, connect the power source to the water heaters of the 5 bathrooms that are still in use and 2 water heaters in the teachers' dormitory duty room to immediately solve the problem of hot water for students to use.
At the same time, a water purifier with a capacity of 250 liters/hour has been installed, ensuring enough daily drinking water for students.
The inspection team also requested the school to propagate and instruct students not to use natural water sources for drinking. Coordinate with functional units to ensure school health care for students and teachers of the school.
Lao Cai Department of Education and Training also requested the school to immediately work with the unit providing daily meals for students in accordance with regulations.
Also on October 22, Sa Pa City Party Committee inspected the responsibility of leaders in school management.
Previously, on October 21, the Chairman of Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee issued an official dispatch on overcoming the consequences of storms and floods and implementing policies and regimes at educational institutions in the province.
Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee requested the Department of Education and Training and districts, towns and cities to review the implementation of policies for teachers and students at all educational institutions in the area under their management authority.
Pay special attention to organizing meals and nutrition conditions for boarding and semi-boarding students, especially food hygiene and safety and clean water sources.
Lao Cai province also requested to step up inspection and supervision of the implementation of policies for teachers, students and revenues and expenditures of educational institutions and strictly and promptly handle violations against collectives and individuals according to regulations.
