At 10:00 a.m. on April 22, forces from the Traffic Police Department (Gia Lai Provincial Police), the Department of Construction, the Department of Health and representatives of the Gia Lai Provincial Traffic Safety Committee directly arrived at the scene of the student bus overturning and urged and directed urgent treatment of the injured.

While being treated at Hung Vuong Gia Lai Hospital, driver Phan Dinh Du (born in 1968, residing in village 4, Thang Hung commune, Chu Prong district, Gia Lai province) was taken by doctors to check his health and consciousness.
Driver Du said he had been driving school buses for 20 years. At the time of the accident, the vehicle was traveling at a speed of about 30-40km/h when it suddenly lost control. After discovering the situation, Du tried to hold the steering wheel and steer the vehicle to a safe position, but after driving a short distance, the vehicle lost control and crashed into the embankment on the side of the road.
“When the car flipped over, the engine oil spilled all over the driver’s seat. I am currently experiencing pain in my ribs and have had an X-ray done by the doctors, and am awaiting the results,” said Mr. Du.

Also this morning, officers from the Traffic Police Department (Gia Lai Provincial Police) conducted a breathalyzer test on the driver. The test results determined that driver Du had no breathalyzer.
According to updated information from Hung Vuong Gia Lai Hospital, the health of 14 students and 1 driver being treated here has basically stabilized, none of the cases are too serious; the remaining 6 cases are being treated at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital - Hoang Anh Gia Lai and Gia Lai General Hospital and are being closely monitored by doctors.


As CAND Online reported, at around 6:30 a.m. on April 22, a 30-seat car with license plate 81F-001.88 driven by Phan Dinh Du (born in 1968, residing in village 4, Thang Hung commune, Chu Prong district, Gia Lai province) was traveling from Duc Co district to Pleiku city, carrying students to school. At that time, there were about 20 students (both middle and high school students) on the car.
When the car reached Km 200+700 National Highway 19 in Thanh Binh village, Binh Giao commune, Chu Prong district, Gia Lai province, it suddenly plunged down the slope and flipped over, injuring many people.
