On the afternoon of August 15, the U.19 Vietnam team had their first training session at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center. This is a very important training phase to create stability and perfect the squad and playing style for the U.19 Vietnam team towards the goal of competing for a place in the 2025 AFC U.20 Championship.
However, many clubs at this time are also rushing to prepare for the 2024 - 2025 national professional football season. Therefore, the U.19 Vietnam team is currently unable to gather all the best players, including some notable names such as Cong Phuong, Manh Hung... In addition, in the first training session, the U.19 Vietnam team also did not have the service of 6 players called up to the U.22 national team according to the plan to review and evaluate the force of coach Kim Sang-sik. The six faces mentioned above include goalkeeper Pham Dinh Hai, defender Nguyen Bao Long, Dinh Quang Kiet, Mai Quoc Tu, midfielder Nguyen Le Phat and striker Trinh Long Vu.
U.19 Vietnam will have a training trip in Japan from August 23.
Coach Hua Hien Vinh said that despite facing difficulties in terms of personnel, the coaching staff of the U.19 Vietnam team will still make every effort to have the best preparation for the 2025 U.20 Asian qualifiers. "After the 2024 U.19 Southeast Asian tournament, the coaching staff met, learned from experience and made adjustments and changes to meet higher requirements. We will not change completely but will create opportunities for the players to achieve high performance and make professional progress from the recent U.21 National Finals. In this training session, U.19 Vietnam must consider sending players back to their home clubs to prepare for the upcoming V-League. This is also a difficulty, but we want to share with the clubs. I hope that when the 2025 U.20 Asian qualifiers are near, the clubs will also share with U.19 Vietnam, so that we have the best force to compete," Coach Hua Hien Vinh expressed.
According to the plan, the U.19 Vietnam team will have a week of gathering in Hanoi, before going to Japan for training from August 23 to September 1. Here, U.19 Vietnam will meet quality "blue troops" introduced by the Japan Football Federation. After finishing the training session in Japan, U.19 Vietnam is expected to have 2 internal matches with U.20 Russia in Hanoi.
