As part of a series of activities to celebrate the 370th anniversary of the province's construction and development (1653-2023), the 48th anniversary of Khanh Hoa Province Liberation Day (April 2, 1975 - April 2, 2023), the documentary exhibition "Khanh Hoa Province's History through Nguyen Dynasty Woodblocks" (open from the evening of March 30 to April 6 at the Provincial Library) is attracting many visitors for the first time.
Attract attention
One of the special features of the documentary exhibition “History of Khanh Hoa province through woodblocks of the Nguyen Dynasty” is that the documentary heritage itself contains information. Therefore, the exhibition attracts the attention of many people. After hearing about the printing techniques of the Nguyen Dynasty, Le Luong Xuan Vy (10 years old, Xuong Huan ward, Nha Trang city) attentively observed the woodblock version and admired each stroke of the reverse character carved delicately on the wood... Ms. Luong Thi Ha Duyen (Vinh Hai ward, Nha Trang) brought her 7-year-old son to see the exhibition because she really wanted him to know about the history of Vietnam in general and Khanh Hoa in particular. She also scanned the QR code to download and store the exhibition documents for her son to learn long-term. “I let my child approach the history of our country in many ways to gradually absorb the traditions of their ancestors and the love for the Fatherland,” Ms. Duyen shared. For Nguyen Thi Thao Nguyen (Phuoc Long ward, Nha Trang), woodblock documents are new knowledge. So when he heard the introduction, Nguyen felt very proud and interested in learning about his country's history.
Visiting the exhibition, Han-Nom bachelor Do Van Khoi - Head of Administration - General Department (Khanh Hoa Monuments Conservation Center) said: "The woodblock documents introduced at the exhibition were selected from major historical works of the Nguyen Dynasty, such as: Kham dinh Dai Nam hoi dien su le, Dai Nam thuc luc chinh bien de nhi ky, Dai Nam nhat thong chi..., showing the official and orthodox nature on the national level, organized by the Nguyen Dynasty to edit, engrave, and circulate, with unique value and supreme content value. In my opinion, the exhibition of woodblock documents in particular, and heritage in general, should be held regularly to promote the people and land of Khanh Hoa".
According to preliminary statistics from the Department of Home Affairs, the unit responsible for organizing the exhibition, since its inception, it is estimated that more than 600 visitors have come to visit.
Spreading local values
Mr. Vo Chi Vuong - Director of the Department of Home Affairs said that 36 woodblock documents and 3 woodblock versions of the Nguyen Dynasty at the exhibition are divided into 3 parts, providing information about the location, population; history of Khanh Hoa and some talented people of Khanh Hoa during the Nguyen Dynasty. The content introduced is very rich, reflecting all aspects of Vietnamese society under the Nguyen Dynasty, in which the changes and development of the province are also clearly shown.
For example, the name and changes in administrative boundaries of the province are shown in the woodblocks of the book Kham dinh Dai Nam hoi dien su le. The woodblocks of Dai Nam nhat thong chi show that the population of Khanh Hoa under the reign of King Thieu Tri was 10,426 people. Not only about history and geography, the woodblocks of the Nguyen Dynasty also show many topics about politics - society, military, law, culture, education, religion, ideology, philosophy, language - script, literature and poetry... The highlight is the ancient Thien Y Tower (today's Ponagar Tower), located on Cu Lao hill in Cu Lao commune, Vinh Xuong district (now Vinh Phuoc ward, Nha Trang). The exhibition also introduces a number of famous mandarins and scholars of Khanh Hoa, including Mr. Nguyen Xuan Thuc. His royal decrees of conferring titles are still being preserved and preserved by later generations in Ninh Hoa town and are recognized by the Provincial People's Committee as a particularly valuable and rare document...
According to Mr. Vo Chi Vuong, the exhibition is a practical activity for people and tourists to understand more about Khanh Hoa's history, creating conditions for the public to access woodblock documents of special historical value.
Mr. DINH VAN THIEU - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee: The woodblock documents selected and displayed at the exhibition are records of the history of Khanh Hoa land through the Nguyen Dynasty. Thereby, it shows that, despite many changes in name and administrative boundaries, Khanh Hoa has always been a very important land in terms of politics, culture, economy and military of the country. Hopefully, this exhibition will contribute to promoting traditional values, affirming the position, role and great contributions of the people and land of Khanh Hoa in the history of building and defending the country; arousing the pride of Khanh Hoa people, creating new determination, building the province to increasingly break through and shine in the journey of integration and development; contributing to raising awareness about preserving and promoting the historical value of archival documents. |
