Singer-songwriter Ta Quang Thang has just introduced the MV Son Tinh & Thuy Tinh (a song composed by himself, with arrangement by Tran Thang, performed by both), "renewing" a legend of Vietnamese culture with his love for rock.

Ta Quang Thang said that the song originated from the idea of combining two musical personalities that he envisioned as a musical dialogue. And he thought that there was nothing more suitable than using the images of Son Tinh and Thuy Tinh to portray these two completely different personalities.
For the first time, Son Tinh - Thuy Tinh have a "fiery" dialogue in music.
"According to ancient legends, we have never heard of Son Tinh and Thuy Tinh talking to each other, but each appeared in their own way and found gifts to offer to King Hung. There are also versions where each character said a few sentences introducing themselves and their abilities to King Hung. But I imagine that with these two different personalities and backgrounds, they certainly have a lot to say to each other. Especially after so many years, they still fight each other like in the legends we heard when we were children: every year Thuy Tinh raises water, and every year Son Tinh uses magic to make the ground and mountains rise, to resist storms and floods. Surely they must have a lot to say to each other!", Ta Quang Thang explained the "origin" of the song.
So, with his music, Thang freely imagined: if speaking, what would the two boys who both looked to My Nuong say to each other, how... And if conversing in a duet, as he shared, was also something that almost no one had ever done before, so it made him want to conquer this challenge he set for himself even more.
Recording live footage of guitarist Tran Thang and band members playing music helps the audience see the artist show off his unique musical techniques and personalities.
Jokingly asked Thang, Son Tinh - Thuy Tinh fought (in nature) to have My Nuong, and Quang Thang - Tran Thang fought (in music) to achieve something, besides playing with rock? He laughed and said: "Music is only for oneself, for one's ego, who... has the free time to go... fight for jealousy every year. Having "My Nuong" is good, not having it is also okay! ( laughs )".
Artists must tell the stories of their people.
Regarding the reason for collaborating with Tran Thang, Ta Quang Thang said, it was simply because he... was very close to Tran Thang - guitarist of Ngu Cung band (they performed together many times, toured together, and almost every show the organizers wanted the two to have a performance together, in addition to their individual performances).
"However, I think we need more than that, we need a truly tailor-made work, written specifically to highlight the musical personalities of both Ta Quang Thang and Ngu Cung band. That's why Tran Thang and I thought about producing a song together."
Besides the love for rock, Son Tinh & Thuy Tinh also expresses the artist's thoughts: music must always be imbued with the national soul...
In the MV Son Tinh & Thuy Tinh, both chose the "Live in studio" image - live recording of the band recording in the studio, so that viewers can know the specific musical skills of the musicians. Because for Ta Quang Thang personally, "Ngu Cung is the best rock band in Vietnam at the moment. Tran Thang is a guitarist that all musicians in the profession and rock music lovers love and respect, highly appreciating his technical yet unique musical ability".
Sharing more about this combination, Ta Quang Thang said: "Ngu Cung and I both play rock. My rock is mixed with country and blues. Ngu Cung band tends towards rock combined with the Northwest sound. Each artist, each direction of development is different, but we share the same love for rock and guitar... We always believe that rock is always a strong wave that constantly moves in the flow of music". Not only that, with Son Tinh & Thuy Tinh , he "wants that music must always be imbued with the soul of the nation, old stories must still be told regularly, so that our children never forget that they are Vietnamese. Vietnamese artists, no matter what kind of music they play, must still tell the stories of their nation".
