The Party Central Committee votes for confidence in the Politburo and Secretariat

On the morning of May 15, the 13th Central Committee's mid-term conference officially opened in Hanoi. General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong chaired and delivered the opening speech.

The Party Central Committee will conduct a vote of confidence from the Party Central Committee Executive Committee for members of the 13th Politburo and Secretariat.

President Vo Van Thuong presided over the opening session of the conference. Delegates approved the conference program, which is expected to last until May 17.

At this conference, in addition to taking a vote of confidence in the Politburo and the Secretariat, the Party Central Committee will also give opinions on the mid-term review report on the leadership and direction of the Politburo and the Secretariat and a number of key tasks until the end of the 13th Party Congress term.

General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong delivered the opening speech at the conference. According to the General Secretary, this is a conference of great significance to the successful completion of the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress.

The General Secretary requested the Central Committee to promote intelligence, uphold the sense of responsibility, focus on research, discuss thoroughly, and give opinions to complete the mid-term review report on the leadership and direction of the Politburo and Secretariat and a number of key tasks until the end of the 13th National Party Congress term.

Regarding the Central Committee's vote of confidence in the Politburo and Secretariat at the conference, the General Secretary also requested the Central Committee to express its opinion on the level of confidence in each member of the Politburo and Secretariat, contributing to further enhancing the Party's leadership and governing capacity, making the Party increasingly clean and strong, meeting the increasingly high requirements of the new development period.

According to regulations, the vote of confidence is carried out in accordance with regulations, taking place in the middle year of the term. The results of the vote of confidence of the Party Central Committee are only announced at the conference.

Last February, the Politburo also issued Regulation 96 on taking a vote of confidence for leadership and management positions in the political system, including taking a vote of confidence for the General Secretary, Politburo members, and members of the Party Central Committee's Secretariat.

The 13th Party Central Committee's mid-term conference is expected to close on May 17.
