On April 20, in Ea Wer commune, Buon Don district, Dak Lak province, Syngenta Vietnam Company Limited officially introduced the F1 transgenic single hybrid corn variety NK6101BGT to corn farmers in the southern provinces.
Attending the program were Mr. Nguyen Nhu Cuong, Director of the Department of Crop Production - Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development; representatives of the People's Committee of Dak Lak province; Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Dak Nong, Gia Lai, Nghe An, Thanh Hoa, Hoa Binh, Thai Nguyen, Ha Giang and Lao Cai provinces; Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection, agricultural extension centers of the provinces; a number of good farmers, more than 300 agricultural material agents of the provinces in the Central Highlands and Southeast regions...
NK6101BGT yield reaches more than 9 tons/ha
The F1 transgenic single hybrid corn variety NK6101BGT was researched and tested in Vietnam by Syngenta scientists since 2017. After thousands of evaluation tests, NK6101BGT with BGT transgenic technology has proven its superiority and was recognized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in October 2023.

Accordingly, the growth period of the F1 transgenic corn variety NK6101BGT in the Northern region is 110 - 120 days and in the Southern region the growth period is 100 - 110 days, and can be grown in many crops a year. With many outstanding advantages, the F1 transgenic corn variety NK6101BGT not only effectively prevents stem borers but also has very high grain yield.

Some outstanding characteristics of the transgenic F1 single hybrid corn variety BK6101BGT:
The new BGT gene transfer technology combines 1 Agrisure and Herculex technology with 2 insect resistance gene transfer events Bt11 and TC1507, creating a dual layer of action, preventing stem borers more effectively, improving crop yields, helping farmers reduce the use of pesticides during cultivation, contributing to reducing production costs and reducing the risk of environmental pollution.
Inheriting characteristics from the NK6101 background variety, the BK6101BGT transgenic corn variety has a set of green, disease-free leaves; tightly packed, less rot, less weevils, resistant to germination on corn; good drought resistance...

Farmers are excited
The experimental planting model of F1 transgenic single hybrid corn variety NK6101BGT in the Spring crop of 2024 was carried out on an area of more than 5 sao (5,000 m2 ) of Mr. Tran Xuan Van's household (village 5, Ea Wer commune, Buon Don district, Dak Lak). Planting time is from January 9, 2024, expected to be harvested at the end of April 2024.

Mr. Van’s family received 100% support for corn seeds. Syngenta staff regularly went to the fields to advise and guide on planting techniques, care, fertilization and pest control measures.
Looking at the corn field ready for harvest, Mr. Van happily shared that the weather this corn planting season was not favorable, right in the middle of a long dry season, but the hybrid corn NK6101BGT still grew well, the plants were healthy, the cobs were big, and the leaves remained green until harvest.

"After more than 100 days of care, I realized that this corn variety does not require much care. According to my calculations, in about a week the expected harvest yield will be nearly 10 tons of dry corn/ha, much higher than other corn varieties I have grown before," Mr. Van said excitedly.

During the field visit, delegates and farmers also highly appreciated the outstanding characteristics of the F1 transgenic corn variety NK6101BGT. Mr. Lu Trong Ha, an agricultural materials dealer in Ea Sup district, Dak Lak, commented that the F1 transgenic corn variety NK6101BGT has a strong root system, green plants from root to tip, large, even cobs, beautiful grain color, high field purity, very suitable for the local soil.

Talking about the superiority of the F1 transgenic corn variety NK6101BGT, Mr. Tran Thanh Vu, General Director of Syngenta Vietnam Co., Ltd. said that Syngenta's launch of the NK6101BGT variety carrying two insect-resistant genes Bt11 and TC1507 with long-term, sustainable insect resistance will help farmers have another superior and reliable choice.
Before being officially introduced to Vietnamese farmers, NK6101BGT underwent hundreds of large and small tests over 5 years, in many crop seasons and in 5 different ecological regions across the country, from the Northern midlands and mountainous areas, North Central, Central Highlands, Southeast to the Mekong Delta and all achieved positive results.

Attending the introduction ceremony of the NK6101BGT corn variety, Vice Chairman of Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thien Van assessed that through monitoring and actual visits to the model, it showed that the F1 transgenic corn variety NK6101BGT has potential for productivity, brings high economic efficiency, and is suitable for local farming conditions.
Dak Lak currently has about 80,000 hectares of corn growing area, one of the leading localities in the country in terms of this crop area. This is also a potential crop with great demand to serve the livestock industry.
