On July 30, news from the Department of Health of Quang Binh province said that after the "Quang Binh International Marathon 2024" held in Dong Hoi city, two athletes had to be hospitalized due to weakness.

Specifically, athletes TTH and VNA, immediately after crossing the finish line, showed symptoms of weakness, fatigue, and difficulty breathing. Afterwards, the medical team transferred these two people to the Vietnam - Cuba Friendship Hospital in Dong Hoi for emergency treatment.

At the time of emergency hospitalization, the two athletes suffered from heat shock, rhabdomyolysis, and acute renal failure and were transferred to the Intensive Care and Anti-Poison Department for treatment and emergency care.

"Currently, these two patients are conscious, can walk and eat, but still have muscle wasting. The acute kidney failure is improving well, and they are still being monitored and treated," he informed.

The race attracted nearly 3,000 athletes.

It is known that the "Quang Binh International Marathon 2024" race with the participation of nearly 3,000 athletes competing in 4 distances: 5km, 10km, 21km and 42km, took place on July 28 in Dong Hoi City.

Bolt Events JSC (the unit coordinating with the Department of Culture and Sports of Quang Binh province to organize the above event) faced public backlash when it blocked National Highway 1, the section through Dong Hoi City, causing many difficulties for vehicles.

The organizers blocked Hung Vuong Street (Highway 1) through the center of Dong Hoi City, the section near Ho Chi Minh Square, to organize the race. Many vehicles traveling on this route had difficulty moving.
