During the opening night of the Phu Tho Ancestral Land Culture and Tourism Week in the year of the Snake 2025, Phu Tho Xoan singing – a representative intangible cultural heritage of humanity and a unique tourism product – was further introduced and promoted.
To welcome tourists to explore Phu Tho's ancestral land during the Hung Kings' Commemoration Day and the Ancestral Land Culture and Tourism Week in 2025, Phu Tho has ensured all aspects are in place to create a positive impression as a destination. According to Nguyen Duc Hoa, Director of the Phu Tho Provincial Tourism Information and Promotion Center: The highlight of Phu Tho tourism during this year's Hung Kings' Commemoration Day is the "Colorful Tourism of Phu Tho 2025" event, taking place from April 3-7 at Van Lang Park, featuring numerous activities to introduce and promote tourism; foster tourism development linkages; and preserve and promote cultural heritage... In addition, there will be a rich and engaging festival to attract visitors.
On their journey to the ancestral land, tourists cannot miss the Hung Kings Temple historical site – a special national historical site, one of the most important historical and cultural relics for every Vietnamese person. Visitors come here to admire the beautiful scenery, explore, learn about history, and practice the Hung Kings worship – a form of Vietnamese cultural belief.
In Viet Tri city, the ancient capital of Van Lang, visitors can explore the Hung Vuong Museum to learn about the natural environment, people, history, and culture of Phu Tho province through various periods, from prehistoric times to the modern era. In particular, visitors have the opportunity to experience the art of Phu Tho Xoan singing, believed to have originated during the time of the Hung Kings. Besides enjoying the melodious Xoan songs performed by the artisans and performers of the original Xoan troupes, visitors can discover the precious values of heritage associated with visiting historical sites such as the Lai Len Temple in Kim Duc commune and the ancient Hung Lo communal house in Hung Lo commune to learn about historical anecdotes and admire the high-level artistic sculptures characteristic of the Late Le Dynasty on wood and ceramics.
Currently, in addition to cultural and spiritual tourism tours and resort tourism, community-based and eco-tourism are being effectively developed and attracted to Phu Tho province. Famous tourist destinations in Phu Tho include: Xuan Son National Park with its rich cave system, diverse flora and fauna, and natural landscapes, home to the Dao and Muong ethnic communities; Thanh Thuy hot spring resort with its high-quality hotels, villas, entertainment areas, and health care services, connected to a large hot spring with excellent healing properties; Viet Tri city – a city of festivals celebrating the origins of the Vietnamese nation; and the scenic Ao Chau and Van Hoi lagoons, beautiful like ink paintings reflecting the palm forests and tea hills… where visitors can immerse themselves in the beautiful nature, experience and enjoy delicious local products and cuisine, and experience the warm and hospitable welcome of the people.
Phu Tho province currently boasts 12 intangible cultural heritage sites, 5 national treasures, and notably, two intangible cultural heritage sites representing humanity: the Hung Kings worshiping belief and Xoan singing. These cultural heritage sites have become rich cultural tourism products, contributing to the sustainable development of tourism in Phu Tho province. The ancestral land is focusing on leveraging its tourism resources and heritage foundation to develop tourism into an impressive and safe destination for domestic and international tourists. Furthermore, it is building a tourism brand for the ancestral land with distinctive and attractive tours and routes so that visitors know Phu Tho not only as the cradle of the nation, but also as a colorful destination, a center for cultural, ecological, and spiritual tourism in the northern mountainous region of Vietnam.
