Subaru Outback 2026 "SUV transformation", equipped with technology

The new 2026 Subaru Outback has a clearer shape language with a large U-shaped grille, split headlights and plastic body panels that give it a rugged look. This design style is oriented by Subaru to highlight ground clearance and durability, two core elements for a true SUV.

The 2026 Subaru Outback SUV features a new roof rack system that can handle an impressive 360 kg of static weight, allowing for hammocks, tents, or other outdoor gear. The rear of the vehicle is also designed to be more upright to optimize storage space.

The interior of the car also received a series of upgrades. The 2026 Outback is equipped with a 12.3-inch digital clock cluster, a 12.1-inch entertainment screen with higher processing speed, and especially, physical air conditioning control buttons have returned after much feedback from users.

Connectivity technologies such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto with wireless support are standard equipment. In addition, Subaru has improved the car's soundproofing system, reducing wind noise by up to 10%, while raising the car's roof by about 5cm to increase interior space and luggage compartment to approximately 980 liters.

A semi-autonomous driving assistance system is also integrated, allowing hands-free operation at speeds of nearly 137 km/h on some highways, a big plus for users who often travel long distances. Under the hood, Subaru remains loyal to the current powertrain.

The car is equipped with two engine options: a 2.5L naturally aspirated version with a capacity of 180 horsepower (slightly down from the previous generation) and a 2.4L turbocharged version with a capacity of 260 horsepower. All-wheel drive (AWD) is standard equipment on all versions, along with a CVT transmission.

The 2026 Outback Wilderness comes standard with a turbocharged engine, CVT transmission, and AWD.

The 2026 Subaru Outback has 220 mm of ground clearance, while the Wilderness version increases it to 241 mm, comes with its own shock absorbers, an improved center differential lock, and superior off-road capabilities with increased approach, departure, and breakover angles.

Subaru has not yet announced fuel consumption, price or official launch date. However, the return of the Wilderness version with a quick-locking center differential, improved AWD system and impressive off-road performance is attracting the attention of car enthusiasts. Currently, the price of the 2026 Subaru Outback has not been announced .
