In early 2022, Mr. Do Chien Thang (Hanoi) spent more than 30 million VND to own an iPhone 13 Pro Max. However, after less than half a year of use, Mr. Thang's phone suddenly had a screen display error one day.
“Yesterday I was using it normally, but this morning when I woke up I suddenly saw a blue screen on my phone. I tried everything but couldn’t get it back to normal,” said Mr. Thang.
Most original machines with errors will be covered by the manufacturer's warranty if they are still within the support period. If the warranty expires, users will have to pay about 7-9 million VND to replace components.
In fact, not only in Vietnam, but also in the world, many customers using iPhone 13 Pro Max are also experiencing the same situation. This greatly affects consumer psychology.
Talking to reporters of the Journalist and Public Opinion Newspaper, Mr. Nguyen Lac Huy, representative of the Dien Thoai Vui store chain, said: It is possible that the cause of the iPhone 13 Pro Max's blue and white screen error comes from the 120hz scan frequency integrated in the device.
“One of the upgrades of the iPhone 13 Pro Max compared to the previous generation is that the screen is equipped with a 120hz refresh rate. It is possible that using a high refresh rate for too long can cause the screen to heat up and lead to display errors,” said Mr. Huy.
Currently, on some news sites and social networks, information is spreading that some "non-genuine" stores accept to fix the blue and white screen error on iPhone 13 Pro Max with just a copper wire. The cost to fix the screen error this way currently fluctuates between 500,000 - 1 million VND, depending on the location.
According to this share, users just need to remove the iPhone screen, find the circuit location on the back, below. Then, the technician uses a thin copper wire to connect the two opposite circuits. Technicians call this method "borrowing voltage".
Regarding this issue, Mr. Huy said that fixing the display error as shared above is effective in the short term, but cannot completely fix the display error. In the long term, the device will have the phenomenon of power loss, overheating, or automatic restarting.
“In particular, the device will no longer be able to use the 120hz scan frequency. In short, the fix that spread on the internet only lasted a short time,” Mr. Huy shared.
Meanwhile, some authorized Apple warranty centers in Vietnam are accepting display error repairs for 2 million VND (including VAT).

“The process of fixing the display error on the iPhone 13 Pro Max requires many complicated steps. First of all, we need to separate the screen, release the cable neck, and deeply handle the screen cable neck, so that we can maintain the 120hz scanning mode on the screen,” said Mr. Huy.
To analyze more clearly, Mr. Huy said: Copper wire, itself is the wire that transmits electricity and signals like underground copper circuits on the main board and cable. Therefore, in case the main board or cable is broken underground, damaging a certain function, the technician can detect the circuit and run the copper wire again to restore the function of the machine.
