On the afternoon of September 17, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoai Phuong, Deputy Director of Vietnam Expressway Engineering Services Joint Stock Company (VEC E - the management unit of Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway) said that the construction unit had completed repairing the expansion joints of Long Thanh Bridge one week ahead of schedule.

Informing reporters about the repair progress, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoai Phuong said that at noon on September 17, the construction unit had completed pouring the last batch of concrete at the expansion joint at pillar P20, Long Thanh bridge on the highway.
"It is expected that on September 19, after waiting for the concrete to reach strength, the contractor will complete, tighten the bolts and restore the surface and highway lanes. Traffic through the Long Thanh bridge area and the highway will be clear again," Ms. Phuong informed.
Thus, after 12 days of repairing the expansion joint of Long Thanh bridge, the construction progress exceeded the original plan by 6 days (18 days).
The construction unit covered the area with a protective tarpaulin to protect against rain after pouring the last batch of concrete at the expansion joint of Long Thanh bridge.
According to the reporter's records at 4:00 p.m. on September 17, the location where the expansion joint was repaired had been concreted and covered with a tarpaulin to protect the cement concrete layer. The mechanical equipment had been removed after the construction was completed.
In recent days, the road repair process has narrowed and created a bottleneck between Long Thanh Bridge, making it very difficult for vehicles to travel from Dong Nai to Ho Chi Minh City.
The route management unit has repeatedly coordinated with Highway Traffic Control Patrol Team No. 6 (Team 6, Department 8 - Traffic Police Department) to arrange teams on duty at the QL51 intersection to promptly regulate traffic from a distance.
It is expected that on September 19, VEC E will remove the median strip to restore the lanes on the bridge, ending the nightmare of traffic congestion when passing through Long Thanh bridge on the highway.
According to VEC E, immediately after starting repairs on September 5, construction teams and groups worked continuously in "3 shifts, 4 shifts", working day and night.
This is a vital bridge on the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway, the pressure to complete the construction and ensure traffic safety is very high. Therefore, the investor and contractor are trying to complete the lane as soon as possible, ahead of schedule to facilitate traffic on the expressway.
According to the Long Thanh Expressway management unit, over time of operation, the expansion joint at pillar P20, Km 12+228 (left side of the route) in the direction of Dong Nai - Ho Chi Minh City has broken rails, if not repaired promptly, it will cause unsafe construction.
According to the repair plan approved by the investor, to replace the new expansion joint at the bridge pier, the contractor chiseled and removed the concrete layer; removed the old expansion joint. Installed the new expansion joint, poured concrete at the joint between the expansion joint and the asphalt concrete of the bridge deck.
Construction started from September 5 to September 23 (18 days of construction). To complete the repair of the expansion joint ahead of schedule, the construction unit worked continuously through the night on Long Thanh Bridge.
