On the afternoon of February 15, the Hamas Islamist movement returned three Israeli hostages in Gaza, after 497 days of detention. The three hostages, Alexander Sasha Troufanov (Russian and Israeli nationality), Yair Horn (Israeli and Argentine nationality) and Sagui Dekel-Chen (American and Israeli nationality), were captured near the Gaza border in October 2023. The return of the three hostages is in exchange for the release of 369 Palestinian prisoners being held by Israel. This is the sixth hostage and prisoner exchange in phase 1 of the ceasefire agreement currently in effect in the Gaza Strip.
