Currently, almost all smartphones on the market are equipped with fast charging features to help users save time waiting for charging.
Along with that, backup chargers with fast charging features have also been released with many different designs, sizes and prices.
According to records, on the streets in Ho Chi Minh City such as 3/2 Street (District 10), Pham Van Dong (Thu Duc City), Dien Bien Phu (Binh Thanh District)... or on e-commerce platforms such as Shopee, Lazada... there are currently many stalls selling unbranded fast-charging power banks, the most popular being the 20,000 mAh type priced from 160,000 to 269,000 VND.
High capacity models up to 50,000 mAh only cost around 280,000 - 360,000 VND. The most popular fake Apple fast chargers, including chargers and cables, cost from 139,000 - 160,000 VND.
Meanwhile, genuine backup batteries are being sold at Thegioididong, CellphoneS or DidongViet... with brands such as X-Mobile, Baseus or Samsung with a capacity of 20,000 mAh and are priced higher, from 600,000 to 1.2 million VND. In addition, Apple's fast chargers are being sold at genuine chains and cost more than 1 million VND.
Many phone users say they still often choose to buy fast chargers and backup batteries of unknown origin to save money.
However, a phone repair technician in Ho Chi Minh City said that using accessories of unknown origin only saves initial costs, but over time, it costs more to repair and greatly reduces the life of the phone and battery.
"Using a fake charger will cause the electric current to be unstable, easily causing the device to overheat and damage the internal components and circuit board; the battery will quickly wear out, even swell, and worse, explode. I have many customers who come to repair and replace components because they use fake products, causing them to spend much more money than the money they spent to buy genuine accessories in the first place. Importantly, when the phone is affected internally, it will no longer be as durable as it was at first," this person said.
Similarly, Mr. Pham Tuan Ngoc, a technology expert, said that cheap backup chargers and fast chargers on the market include two types: genuine, deeply discounted ones and unbranded ones. Unbranded ones will cause users’ phones to break down quickly and easily cause fires.
"For low-quality products, users should not use them to avoid unnecessary risks for themselves and those around them," Mr. Ngoc recommended.
According to technology experts, consumers can choose to buy cheap accessories by going to reputable electronics stores to protect their "pets" as well as their health.
