The first Flood Season Festival 2023 opened on October 28 in Thanh My Tay Commune, An Giang. The festival attracted a large number of people and tourists to experience and enjoy the specialties of the Long Xuyen Quadrangle during the flood season.

On October 28, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of An Giang province coordinated with the People's Committee of Chau Phu district to organize the opening ceremony of the first Flood Season Festival in 2023, at the flood discharge area of Provincial Road 945 (new), in Thanh My Tay commune.
Taking place on October 27 and 28 with the theme "Lang Linh in the flood season", the festival includes cultural and sports activities, folk cuisine space, traditional products of the river region, etc. Thereby, contributing to promoting the unique culture of the flood season in An Giang province.
In particular, to contribute to creating more unique features for the Festival, localities of Chau Phu district also participated in decorating floating rafts with available materials of the river region. Floating rafts decorated beautifully and impressively, ensuring the criteria set by the Organizing Committee will be selected for awards.
Tourists and locals participating in the Chau Phu District Flood Season Festival can rent boats to move to floating rafts to take photos, experience rowing a three-leaf boat, picking ca na and wet rice with gentle and charming Southern girls, or crossing bamboo bridges to catch ducks, bathe in the fields, catch fish, etc. to join in fun games with the typical culture of the Mekong Delta.

Representative of Chau Phu district leader, Mr. Nguyen Van Be Tam said, this is the first time the Flood Season Festival has been held in An Giang province, to meet the needs of people in the flood-prone areas who have been associated with the flood season for generations.
This is also an opportunity to strengthen the solidarity and close relationship between the people of all classes and ethnic groups. Through the festival, Chau Phu district wishes to promote and introduce to people inside and outside the province the unique culture of the locality, contributing to promoting tourism development.
The highlight of the festival is the 1,000-meter canoe race. Teams of men's and women's pairs compete. Each canoe consists of two athletes, one paddling the canoe and the other rowing the canoe.
The flood season is a cultural feature of the Southwest region. Every year, from the 7th to the 10th lunar month, when the farming work is finished, the water from upstream floods the fields, and people are busy preparing their boats and canoes to start making a living on the silvery water full of fish and shrimp.
Nowadays, life is developing, the flood season is gradually becoming a memory. Activities such as rowing a boat to pick sesbania, picking water chestnuts, digging for snails, catching fish… have become unique and attractive tourism products for visitors from near and far.
