After the crane accident caused the Suoi Nhum bridge girders to fall and break, Hoa Binh 479 Joint Stock Company committed to replace the damaged girders with funds from the contractor and insurance company.

On January 1, the Cai Mep – Thi Vai Traffic Project Management Board (Ba Ria – Vung Tau, the project investor) informed Giao Thong Newspaper about the incident of falling and breaking the Suoi Nhum bridge girders belonging to the Bien Hoa – Vung Tau Expressway Component 3 project.

The Project Management Board confirmed that this was an accident caused by a crane collision and was not related to the quality of the project.

Suoi Nhum Bridge is being speeded up to finish on time.

According to the Project Management Board, the incident occurred at around 11:30 a.m. on December 31. At this time, after completing the installation of the first girder span, while moving, the crane's tires slipped, causing it to hit the girder on the right side of the line. This then caused the edge girder to move in a domino effect, causing the entire girder system to fall off the pier and crack.

Upon receiving the incident, the Project Management Board, together with representatives of Hoa Binh 479 Joint Stock Company (contractor), and the supervising consultant (Thang Long Construction Quality Supervision Consulting Joint Stock Company), went to the scene to make a record confirming the incident.

It was determined that 9 beams were broken, but fortunately the incident did not cause any human casualties. Preliminary assessment of the cause of the incident was due to negligence in operating the machine during the installation process.

A section of highway through Ba Ria - Vung Tau has taken shape and been paved with asphalt.

The contractor commits to correct the beam installation process, and to compensate for damaged beams at the contractor's expense and the construction insurance unit's expense to ensure the quality and progress of the project.

"We request the contractor to speed up the casting of beams and re-installation to keep up with the schedule and not affect the completion time of the entire project," said a representative of the Project Management Board.

According to the report from the Project Management Board, the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau Expressway Component 3 project has 11 bridges, including Suoi Nhum Bridge, which is the main route bridge at Km37+421, crossing the existing Suoi Nhum through Hac Dich ward, Phu My town.

Suoi Nhum Bridge is 152.52m long, with 4 I33m girder spans (40 girders) with 2 abutments located on 2 banks and 3 pillars T1, T2, T3 located in the lake bed, on bored piles D1000 with length from 15.5m to 28m, the total number of bored piles of the bridge is 76 piles.

The Suoi Nhum bridge project started construction on June 18, 2023, with contractor 479 Hoa Binh Joint Stock Company in charge of construction, and the supervising consultant is Thang Long Construction Quality Supervision Consulting Joint Stock Company.

By December 31, 2024, the project had completed the entire pile foundation structure and bridge abutments, and completed casting 40 I33 girder slabs, reaching 70% of the project volume.

Completed items have been constructed and accepted in accordance with approved design documents. Construction equipment has been inspected and personnel participating in machine operation and construction have appropriate training certificates.
