According to Engadget , developer Bethesda says Starfield just received some important updates that they promised fans a few months ago.
Specifically, version 1.8.86 of the game will provide support for DLSS technology, giving users features specific to NVIDIA graphics cards such as DLSS Super Resolution, Deep Learning Anti-aliasing (DLAA), Reflex Low Latency, and DLSS frame generation. This will appease many users who are dissatisfied with Bethesda's AAA game's lack of DLSS support.
Starfield officially supports DLSS after the latest update
Along with DLSS, the update also optimizes GPU performance for users with high-end graphics cards. Bethesda has also addressed memory leaks and other related issues, improved rendering threads, and made a number of performance stability improvements.
On the graphics side, Starfield adds brightness and contrast controls, and fixes issues with occlusion around characters in the game, shader compilation, HDR brightness (Xbox and Windows 11 only), …
The gameplay has also undergone some welcome changes. Players can now eat food directly in the game via the consume button without having to add items to the inventory, mouse issues have been fixed, quest issues have been resolved, and more.
Bethesda tested the new features on Steam earlier this month before releasing them to the general public. Starfield was one of the best-selling games of 2023 (thanks in part to being free on Game Pass), with the company reporting that it had more than 10 million players as of the end of September.
