An Indian director has filed a lawsuit against Netflix in a US federal court, claiming that Squid Game copied his 2009 film Luck.
Soham Sah, an Indian filmmaker, called Squid Game is a blatant copy of his Hindi film. Luck It also revolves around the story of a "group of desperate, indebted people who are lured into participating in a series of competitive games to win large sums of money" and face death if they lose.
Soham Sah is seeking damages under the law and an injunction against copyright infringement by stopping the broadcast and promotion of the film. "The plot, characters, themes, mood, setting and sequence of events of Squid Game very similar to Luck , it cannot be said that such similarities can only be a coincidence," said Soham.

Launching in 2022, Squid Game became the first foreign language film to win six Emmy Awards, with Hwang Dong Hyuk taking home the award.
