The outstanding product, imbued with local identity, is Muong Va sticky rice, a local variety of sticky rice such as tan hin, tan nhe and tan do with a delicious, soft and sticky flavor. Thanks to the correct cultivation process, Muong Va sticky rice was recognized as a 3-star OCOP product at the provincial level in 2019. The product has become a commodity, sold in markets, supermarkets and on e-commerce platforms, reaching consumers in many provinces and major cities.

Ms. Lo Thi Ha, Chairwoman of Muong Va Commune People's Committee, said: In recent years, the Party Committee, government and people have focused on developing agricultural economy in association with the One Commune One Product (OCOP) program. Up to now, Muong Va has 2 typical products recognized as OCOP with 3 stars or more, which are sticky rice and Na Mon oranges. We direct the effective exploitation of land and climate potential, creating favorable conditions for people to link production according to the value chain. Maintain stable 590 hectares of fruit trees, of which the main ones are oranges, tangerines and citrus trees.

In the communes of Dom Cang, Muong Va and Muong Lan, the fruit tree growing model is developing with key crops: oranges, tangerines, mangoes, passion fruit... These crops are contributing to the formation of concentrated fruit tree growing areas, helping farmers to change the crop structure in a sustainable way, bringing high economic value. In addition, the district directs the development of coffee trees in the communes of Dom Cang, Nam Lanh, Muong Va and Pung Banh. At the same time, it guides the cultivation, harvesting and preservation techniques, aiming to improve product quality, gradually building the Sop Cop coffee brand.

Mr. Cam Van Vinh, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Dom Cang Commune, said: The commune's coffee area is over 652 hectares, of which 305 hectares are for fruit harvest, mainly concentrated in Cang, Pat Phay, Toc Liu, and Dom villages. Many households in the commune have an income of 150-300 million VND/year from growing coffee. The commune's poverty rate in 2024 will decrease to 11.53%. In the coming time, areas with guaranteed irrigation water will be planned for orange growing.

Discussing this content, Ms. Duong Tu Anh, Secretary of Sop Cop District Party Committee, said: The district focuses on shifting from traditional, fragmented agricultural production model to in-depth development, promoting intensive farming and concentrated commodity production. The application of scientific and technological advances in production is promoted, while closely linking the stages from production to processing, preservation and consumption of products. Factors of food safety and hygiene, environmental protection and agricultural product branding are also focused on, in order to increase added value and production efficiency.

Up to now, the district's fruit tree area has reached 2,152 hectares of various fruit trees, with an estimated output of 2,300 tons of fruit per year, of which 55 hectares of fruit trees are grown according to VietGAP, GlobalGAP, 4C, UTZ and equivalent standards. The whole district has 1,057 hectares of coffee trees, with an output of over 4,300 tons of fresh fruit per year. In addition, the district has actively implemented high-tech application models in agricultural production, such as water-saving irrigation systems, net houses, and greenhouses, to improve productivity and product quality.

The formation of concentrated agricultural production areas with key products is considered one of the important orientations in the rural economic development strategy of Sop Cop district, contributing to gradually improving people's lives and building sustainable new rural areas.
