On June 19, the Office of the People's Committee of Vinh Long province announced that the locality had just announced an emergency situation of landslides on the banks of Mang Thit river, with a dangerous level of 265m long, through Go An hamlet, Tan An Luong commune, Vung Liem district.
The landslide occurred in the early morning of June 7. The landslide section is 60m long, 6-8m deep into the shore, and the section at risk of further landslides is 205m long.
The landslide did not cause any human casualties, but it affected the houses, daily life and production of 13 households. Two households had their prefabricated houses, fences and embankments about 40m long completely collapsed. The total damage was estimated at about 500 million VND.
The People's Committee of Vinh Long province assigned the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to closely monitor the development of landslide risks. Synthesize and report on the damage caused by landslides. Deploy urgent solutions to respond and overcome the consequences to prevent and minimize damage.
Vung Liem District informed local residents about the landslide situation and regularly monitored and responded promptly. Mobilized residents not to stay in houses within the landslide area. Dispatched forces to fence off the area and put up danger warning signs...
In case of detecting new and unusual landslide developments, immediately report to the Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue. At the same time, quickly compile statistics, assess the damage, prepare documents and submit them to competent authorities to support people according to regulations.
