Comprehensive achievements in all fields
Over 70 years of construction and development (1953 - 2023), the Party Committee, government and people of all ethnic groups in Song Ma district have overcome all difficulties and challenges, achieving many comprehensive achievements in all fields.
The economy is developing, the whole district currently has more than 10,600 hectares of fruit trees, 2,762 longan processing kilns for export. 3 communes meet new rural standards. Education, training, health, culture, and society are given attention; the whole district has 47/53 schools meeting national standards.
The work of building and rectifying the Party and the political system has been focused on. National defense and security have been strengthened; social order and safety have been maintained. Foreign relations with Muang Et district, Xiengkhor, Laos have become increasingly extensive and effective...
In addition to its traditional strengths, Song Ma has been applying science and technology and applying high technology to help the economy continuously develop well, the average budget revenue in the district from 2020 to present has reached 131 billion VND/year and always exceeded the estimate assigned by the Provincial People's Committee. In 2022 alone, it reached 197 billion VND (exceeding 29% of the estimate assigned by the province).
In addition, the entire district has eliminated 100% of temporary and dilapidated houses for poor households aged 40 and over; the poverty rate has decreased to over 20%.
In recent years, the district has promoted the application of high-tech agricultural production, in the direction of organic, associated with the processing industry, meeting export standards. Song Ma district has become one of the largest longan granaries in the country with an area of nearly 7,500 hectares, accounting for over 70% of the district's fruit tree area, with an annual output of over 60,000 tons; Song Ma's longan products are of high quality, exported to the markets of China, the United Kingdom and the European Union (EU).
Industrial production continued to develop, attracting investment in 1 brick production project, 2 commercial concrete projects, and 8 hydropower projects. Commercial and service activities basically met the production and consumption needs of the people. Attention was paid to the fields of education, training, health, culture, and society.

Along with economic development, Song Ma also pays special attention to resource management and environmental protection. The Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front of the district has developed a coordination program between the Fatherland Front, Youth Union, Labor Federation, Women's Union, Farmers' Association, and Veterans' Association to deploy environmental protection activities in 19/19 communes and towns. Although it has only been deployed since the beginning of 2022, the program has truly spread to all classes of people, creating bright - green - clean - beautiful residential areas. People are happy, excited, and enthusiastic about competing in labor and production on their homeland.
By the end of 2022, Son La will have 59 communes meeting the new rural standards; 5 communes meeting the advanced new rural standards; 3 districts of Muong La, Bac Yen, and Van Ho will escape poverty. 199/204 communes, wards, and towns have paved car roads to the commune center, 94.1% of households have safe access to electricity; 97.5% of the rural population has access to clean water. The province's poverty rate has decreased to 17.83%, an average decrease of over 3%/year, achieving the target set by the 14th Provincial Party Resolution.

Unity, promote internal strength
To "reap" many comprehensive achievements in the above fields, over the past years, the Party Committee, government and people of all ethnic groups in Song Ma district have promoted internal strength and determined to renew this land named after a river.
The whole district has united, focused its intelligence; constantly strived, overcome difficulties, exploited potential advantages, mobilized all resources to break through and develop, creating momentum for Song Ma to achieve very important results, becoming one of the developed districts of Son La province.
With the strength of being a district with suitable soil and climate conditions for growing fruit trees - especially longan trees, the people of all ethnic groups in the district have proactively transformed the structure of crops and livestock, applied scientific and technological advances in production, turning the district's agriculture from a self-sufficient economy into a commodity production economy - especially longan - to supply the domestic market and serve export.
In addition to developing longan trees, many new production models of the district such as grape growing, Dien grapefruit growing, green-skinned grapefruit growing, mango growing, beef cattle raising, deer raising and large livestock raising development... are being focused on by the district and have initially given very good results, contributing significantly to the transformation of the district's agricultural structure.

The Resolution of the 21st Congress of the Song Ma District Party Committee, term 2020-2025, has set a goal of creating a concentrated raw material area by 2025, closely linking production, processing, and stable product consumption. The Standing Committee of the District Party Committee has issued a decision to establish a Working Group to promote the development of raw material areas to serve agricultural processing factories. Assign tasks to members to coordinate with the People's Committees of communes and towns to review the land area that can expand the raw material area. At the same time, direct the application of current mechanisms and policies to attract businesses and companies to invest and support the construction of economic models.
To achieve the above goals, in the remaining time of 2023 and beyond, Song Ma district will continue to promote the spirit of solidarity, improve the leadership capacity and fighting strength of party organizations; build a clean and strong political system.
Promote agricultural and forestry production associated with processing to create typical products with high economic value. Develop sustainable economy, build Song Ma town to soon become a type IV urban area. Focus on improving the quality of comprehensive education associated with promoting high-quality education. Pay attention to investing and upgrading grassroots cultural institutions.
With the position of a border district of the province, Song Ma will continue to focus on ensuring national defense - security, defense areas, and borders; focusing on building a national defense posture associated with a solid people's security posture... At the same time, maintaining solidarity and friendship with Muang Et district, Xiengkhor, Laos.
We believe that, with our efforts, Song Ma will successfully achieve the goal of becoming a fairly developed district of Son La province, and Song Ma town will become a type IV urban area.
