A huge wave hit and sank his boat, causing a fisherman in Quang Ngai to drift at sea. Luckily, he was able to hold onto a styrofoam box and was saved.
On December 20, Binh Thanh Border Guard Station - Quang Ngai Border Guard Command said that it had coordinated with local fishermen to rescue a fisherman whose boat had been sunk by waves and drifted freely at sea for many hours.
Fisherman Cong was holding a styrofoam box floating freely at sea and was rescued by a fishing boat and officers from Binh Thanh Border Guard Station.
Specifically, fishermen and authorities saved the life of Nguyen Thanh Cong, (33 years old, residing in Binh Thanh, Binh Son district).
Previously, at around 4:00 p.m. on December 19, fisherman Cong rowed a basket boat to the Sa Can estuary to fish when unfortunately a large wave hit and pulled him away.
Although he tried to bring the boat to shore, the big waves sank the boat. Fisherman Cong jumped out and luckily grabbed a styrofoam box, so it drifted freely on the sea.
Upon receiving the report from the people, Binh Thanh Border Guard Station coordinated with local fishermen to mobilize fishing boat QNg 50433 TS, owned and captained by Mr. Nguyen Vien, along with Border Guard soldiers to promptly rescue and bring the fishermen ashore after more than 2 hours of drifting at sea.
According to fisherman Cong, because big waves sank his boat and dragged it out to sea, he grabbed a styrofoam box and clung to it, drifting freely.
