Interesting experiences from books

The pretty and energetic girl Nguyen Hoai Thuong, a 4A student at Tan Khai A Primary School, Tan Khai Town, Hon Quan District, started her reading journey when she entered 1st grade. Hoai Thuong shared: The person who inspired me is Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong, a library staff at the school. Thanks to her many good solutions, the school library has many types of books. And also with her dedication, she has helped me and my friends love reading more and more. Therefore, every recess time, we eagerly go to the library to read books. "I love reading because it helps me explore the world , learn many useful things and enrich my vocabulary" - Hoai Thuong shared.

Also thanks to her love of reading, Hoai Thuong won third prize in the school-level story-telling contest and second prize in the Hon Quan District Reading Culture Ambassador contest.

Not only that, reading books also helps Hoai Thuong live in another world, learn many new things about life, thereby developing critical thinking, analytical and creative skills.

Like many other boys and girls, Hoai Thuong especially loves fairy tales, because these stories often bring a magical world, with beautiful and intelligent princes and princesses or cute and obedient animals. Moreover, fairy tales also contain extremely valuable moral lessons, such as courage, honesty, or unconditional love.

Not only reading books, the students also bring moral lessons into book discussions, where ideas and opinions are shared enthusiastically. “We not only read but also learn how to feel and get acquainted with, practice solving problems in life” - Hoai Thuong shared.

Peaceful sky

In today's busy and hectic world, finding moments of peace is becoming increasingly difficult. However, there are those who have found light in the pages of books.

For Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy Tien, owner of NT Scented Candles (Tan Phu Ward, Dong Xoai City), realizing the value of books from the book “Empty Heart” by Zen Master Yantra helped her decide to change and conquer herself. In the midst of a busy life, instead of being caught up in it, she practices slowing down and finding joy in drinking tea, enjoying candles, reading books…

From valuable experiences of combining reading and slow living, Ms. Thuy Tien realized that books are not simply lines of words on paper, but a door opening to a new world, where she can temporarily leave behind her daily worries. Books have become her companions, helping her connect with herself. From the benefits she realized, she has created a special space where people can come to enjoy tea, watch the flickering candlelight and immerse themselves in the pages of books.

Those spaces are not only places to enjoy tea and read books, but also places to help people find peace amidst the hustle and bustle of life.

“In today’s busy life, spending time reading books helps me find peace. I hope this will be a reading station, a place for people to stop and enjoy tea and read books. It is a great time for everyone to “recharge their batteries” - Ms. Tien said with bright eyes.

Ms. Tien shared that reading is not only a hobby but also a way of life. During tea and book sessions, Ms. Tien has witnessed many touching stories. There are people who come to her with sadness, pressure at work or family life. They often say that after reading a book, they feel lighter, as if their burdens have been lifted.

Reading has become a healing therapy, helping people find peace of mind. Books help us understand ourselves better, thereby finding ways to face problems in life.

Writer Thu Huong believes that the benefits of books for children in particular and people in general are undeniable, especially in forming knowledge, skills and nurturing the soul. Few people know that she herself was nurtured with a love of books from all kinds of books in her mother's junk yard. From her mother's love, she approached books such as "No Family", "Scarlet Sails"... and gradually fell in love with books without realizing it. Although in the current digital age, reading paper books is no longer as popular as before, it is completely possible to bring reading culture closer to everyone.

As someone who has written many works for children, writer Thu Huong believes that in addition to writing, the connection between writers and readers to spread the messages of the work is also very important. The effective reading methods that Ms. Thu Huong often shares to develop a reading culture for each person, the most important is to build a habit yourself, coming from the example of parents, teachers, and the community. Ms. Thu Huong added: “Reading needs to be done consciously. Create comfortable reading spaces where everyone can freely explore and feel. That is the best way to nurture a passion for reading.”

In response to Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day , on April 20 and 21 , Binh Phuoc will organize activities to display and introduce books and organize a mobile library at Thanh Hoa High School, Bu Dop District. The program's organizers will also donate books and reading equipment to the following schools :   Thanh Hoa Primary , Secondary and High School , Bu Dop District. Along with the launch of the response to Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day , the Organizing Committee also launched the 7th Provincial Reading Culture Ambassador Contest, 2025.

In particular, at this event, writer Vo Thu Huong will participate in a talk on the topic " Reading methods and knowledge acquisition skills of high school students " .

In the context of digital technology development, reading still plays an important role in developing a reading culture and a lifelong learning movement. The story of Hoai Thuong, the sharing of Thuy Tien and writer Vo Thu Huong are clear evidence of the great value of reading in learning and life. Not only that, reading has now become a journey of self-discovery. Through books, we not only find knowledge but also connection, peace and healing for the soul.
