The audio version of the song "Making My Way " has garnered 1.5 million listens since its release at midnight on May 5th, currently topping the trending songs chart on YouTube Vietnam. This project marks the singer's return after a year since the release of her music video "There's No One at All ".
Sơn Tùng M-TP said that the new song has great meaning, helping him forget about things that didn't go as planned and reminding him to follow his heart. Born in 1994, after more than 10 years in the profession, he considers himself "an old man." "Even so, the encouragement from the audience helps me always change, dedicate myself, and do things I didn't dare to do before," the singer said.
Making My Way is the self-reflection of a young man who has experienced heartbreak. He overcomes the pain of being betrayed, moves forward on his chosen path, and forgets his ex. The song features a vibrant EDM sound with a fast-paced melody. The singer uses auto-tune to enhance his vocals in the high notes. Sơn Tùng M-TP stated that the song's style isn't new; it's a genre he's pursued for a long time, and now he has the opportunity to revisit it. The singer's real name is Nguyen Thanh Tung, born in 1994 in Thai Binh province. He began his singing career with the song "A Passing Rain" in August 2011. In 2012, he graduated as the top student from the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music and was mentored by musician Huy Tuan. He made his mark with a series of hit songs such as "Drifting Away," "We Don't Belong Together," and "Give Me Your Love ." In 2015, the singer starred in the film "The Boy That Year" (directed by Quang Huy), which was a success with a revenue of 60 billion VND.
Sơn Tùng M-TP has won numerous awards, including: "Outstanding Artist in Southeast Asia" (MTV Europe Music Awards 2015), "Single of the Year" (Lan Song Xanh 2015), "Singer of the Year" (Cong Hien 2016), "Most Popular Singer" (Lan Song Xanh 2016), and was the first Vietnamese singer to receive a YouTube Gold Play Button.
