Son La: 35 houses in Quynh Nhai district affected by whirlwind and hail

NDO - Information from the People's Committee of Quynh Nhai district, Son La province said that on the evening of April 20, in some villages of Chieng On and Muong Gion communes, Quynh Nhai district, whirlwinds and hail occurred, affecting many houses and crops of the people.

According to damage statistics from the villages of Chieng On and Muong Gion communes, Quynh Nhai district, by 3 p.m. on April 21, the hailstorm and strong winds had damaged and affected 35 houses. Of these, 12 were in Chieng On commune and 23 were in Muong Gion commune.

In Muong Gion commune, whirlwinds and hail damaged the roofs of 23 houses, causing damage to 232 fibro cement panels, 458 tiles and 13 corrugated iron sheets.

In Chieng On commune, the tornado completely blew off the roof of one house, damaged the roofs of 11 houses, and damaged 200 fibro cement sheets, 80 tiles, and 10 corrugated iron sheets.

Regarding agriculture , in Muong Gion commune, the tornado completely destroyed 0.08 hectares of corn. In Huoi Na village, Chieng On commune, the tornado destroyed about 5 tons of mangoes.

Immediately after the damage occurred, the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Control and Search and Rescue of Quynh Nhai district directed the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Control and Search and Rescue of Chieng On and Muong Gion communes to inspect and verify the damage situation and mobilize local human and material resources to help affected families overcome the consequences of the natural disaster, temporarily stabilize production and life.

Comrade Lo Thanh Thuy, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Quynh Nhai district, said that Quynh Nhai district has directed members of the District Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Control and Search and Rescue in charge of communes according to assigned tasks to proactively coordinate with relevant agencies, units, and People's Committees of damaged communes to organize on-site recovery, inspect, verify and compile statistics on damage data to report to competent authorities according to regulations.

Maintain 24/7 duty, closely monitor forecasts and warnings; promptly inform hamlets and villages so that people know and proactively prevent hail and whirlwinds. At the same time, prepare response plans to ensure the safety of people's lives and property when situations arise.
