Man City's victory forced Tottenham to win against Brighton to return to the top 4 of the Premier League, but Postecoglou's team did not play well during the first 80 minutes of the match. Tottenham only really rose in the last 20 minutes of the match, including 11 minutes of injury time, but it was too late for the visitors to take the points.
With home advantage, Brighton rushed to attack after the opening whistle. In the 11th minute, Tottenham's defense left Hinshelwood alone to receive the ball at the edge of the penalty area. Brighton's right-back freely adjusted the ball and shot, the ball flew high near goalkeeper Vicario but the opponent's shot was so powerful that Tottenham's goalkeeper couldn't block it in time.

Brighton completely dominated the match. In the 37th minute, Tottenham's net shook for the third time, the goal was disallowed for offside.

When Tottenham's initiative had not yet been effective, they unexpectedly conceded a third goal. In the 63rd minute, Estupinan launched a curling shot from outside the penalty area, the ball curled into the right corner of the goal, making it impossible for Vicario to block. The goal showed the excellent finishing ability of the player who entered the field at the beginning of the second half for the home team.

Tottenham's nightmare continued in the 73rd minute, Lo Celso fouled Ferguson in the penalty area, leading to the second penalty of the match. Joao Pedro continued to take the penalty and he scored to make it 4-0 in the 76th minute.
Conceding four goals left Tottenham with nothing to lose. The visitors fought back strongly and surprisingly scored two goals in the 81st and 85th minutes thanks to Veniz and Davies. After reducing the score to 2-4, Tottenham continued to fight back strongly, especially in the extra minutes. However, Brighton stood firm and successfully defended the score 4-2, thereby winning all 3 points.
