Early submission to UNESCO of Cheo Art dossier as representative intangible cultural heritage of humanity

On the afternoon of June 17, the People's Committee of Thai Binh province held a meeting to listen to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism report on the results of implementing tasks in the first 5 months of 2024, and the directions and key tasks for the last months of the year.

The report shows that, recently, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Thai Binh has focused on consulting and promptly issuing many documents directing and managing cultural, sports and tourism work.

Specifically, the work of preserving and promoting the value of cultural heritage has received attention, including completing the dossier and reporting to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to request the Government to allow submitting to UNESCO the dossier of Cheo Art to be listed as a representative intangible cultural heritage of humanity.

The work of building grassroots cultural life continues to develop, the movement of the whole people uniting to build cultural life and family work is implemented in a disciplined and effective manner, the model of cultural and sports institutions in villages and residential groups in the province is supported to improve the efficiency of operations.

Mass art activities, libraries, exhibitions, and film screenings have performed well in serving political tasks and the people at the grassroots level. Mass sports activities have been vibrant, successfully organizing many provincial sports tournaments. High-performance sports continue to be maintained and sustained.

Tourism activities have made many new strides, including many promotional activities, advertising and product introductions being organized; continuing to strengthen state management of tourism activities at the grassroots level...

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Pham Van Nghiem affirmed that the results achieved in the first 5 months of 2024 showed that the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has seriously implemented the program contents and directions of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council and Provincial People's Committee according to the set plan.

Regarding the key tasks in the last months of 2024, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee emphasized: Regarding the tourism sector, it is necessary to complete the draft Resolution of the Provincial Party Committee on developing tourism into an important economic sector of the province, in which it is necessary to study and supplement solutions in the fields of land, infrastructure, human factors, investment attraction, etc., to be completed no later than June 20 for the Provincial People's Committee to consider submitting to the Provincial People's Committee Party Committee to report to the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee.

In the cultural field, it is necessary to improve the management efficiency of spiritual relics, especially national historical relics. Decentralize the management of cultural institutions to ensure strictness and uniformity. Specialized units under the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism need to study and promulgate regulations on festival management at district and provincial levels. Regarding the system of grassroots cultural institutions, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism should promptly conduct surveys and re-evaluations to improve the operational efficiency of cultural houses in villages, residential groups, communes, wards and towns in the province.

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also requested the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to have a specific report on the next steps in submitting the Cheo Art dossier to UNESCO; building a scientific dossier to honor the cultural celebrity Le Quy Don so that the Provincial People's Committee can unify the direction of relevant sectors and localities to ensure the time schedule...

For the field of high-performance sports, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism needs to study the policy mechanism to attract sports talents, select a number of strong high-performance sports, have a long-term training plan, ensure a roadmap and financial conditions to retain and nurture talented athletes...

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee believes that with consensus and high determination, the culture, sports and tourism sector will soon complete the key tasks set out by the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council and Provincial People's Committee.
