From the beginning of March until now, the Youth Union at all levels has organized many activities to educate its members, young people, and students about traditions through various forms (seminars, forums, journeys to historical sites), linked with activities such as visiting and caring for Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, families of policy beneficiaries, people who have contributed to the revolution, meeting historical witnesses, and caring for people in difficult circumstances.
According to Nguyen Pham Quoc Anh, Secretary of the Youth Union of Tay Do University, to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of Southern Vietnam and the reunification of the country, in April 2025, the Youth Union branches will intensify activities to educate students about historical traditions; visit and present gifts to Vietnamese Heroic Mothers; and encourage students to register and strive to achieve the title of "5 Good Students". Prior to that, at the end of March, the Youth Union organized a traditional camp and a trip to historical sites, attracting more than 1,000 students.
The Can Tho College Youth Union directed its affiliated Faculty Youth Unions to organize four activities focusing on historical and cultural sites, with over 250 Youth Union members participating. This contributed to promoting and educating about the nation's historical traditions and fostering national pride among the younger generation. The Can Tho Medical College Youth Union organized a visit and cleanup of the Can Tho City Martyrs' Cemetery. Prior to this, the Youth Union, in coordination with the Binh Thuy District Youth Union, visited and presented 10 gifts to families of former Youth Volunteers; and held a traditional activity to learn about the history of the Youth Union and the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and the reunification of the country.
For children, the Can Tho City Youth Union Council launched a five-week intensive emulation campaign to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of Southern Vietnam and the reunification of the country. Mr. Tran Viet Tuan, Deputy Secretary of the City Youth Union, stated that the campaign, running from March 27th to April 30th, is linked to five themes corresponding to the five weeks of the campaign: “Can Tho Children Celebrate National Reunification,” “Creative Activities with the Homeland,” “Proud Vietnamese Children,” “Good Children of Uncle Ho – Advancing Towards the Youth Union,” and “Journey to Red Addresses – Ready to Move Forward.” Typical activities include drum and brass band performances with the theme “The Country Filled with Joy,” interactions with historical witnesses, visits to historical and cultural sites, writing contests on historical events, and social welfare and gratitude activities.
According to the Can Tho City Youth Union, district and county Youth Unions have simultaneously established teams of young propagandists at historical sites and revolutionary landmarks; built digital maps of revolutionary landmarks, digitized documents, and carried out many activities to preserve and promote the traditional values of the nation. In particular, the "National Flag Road" project will be implemented simultaneously from March 1st to April 30th, 2025, in 9 districts and counties. The city's youth strive to inaugurate 50 flag roads, with 4,246 flagpoles, totaling over 1.7 billion VND (Phase 1, until the end of March 2025, has completed 17 roads). According to Mr. Tran Phu Quy, Secretary of the Bui Huu Nghia Ward Youth Union (Binh Thuy District), the ward's Youth Union has launched two "National Flag Road" projects in areas 2 and 3, with a total of 80 flagpoles, worth nearly 30 million VND. Mr. Quy said: “Besides installing flagpoles and displaying the national flag, the Youth Union also propagated and mobilized people to protect the environment, plant ornamental flowers, and refrain from encroaching on sidewalks and roadsides for trading, contributing to maintaining a green, clean, and beautiful landscape. This project is a contribution from the Youth Union and local people, helping to spread the pioneering spirit of youth and national pride.”
Youth Union branches at all levels have been actively promoting propaganda work: publishing educational materials on history, the role of the city's youth in the liberation of the South, the reunification of the country, and the cause of building and protecting the Fatherland. Some Youth Union branches have launched competitions to learn about the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and the reunification of the country; launched media products promoting history on social media; and organized youth volunteer teams to carry out many social welfare activities in difficult areas, focusing on localities that were once revolutionary bases.
