Exciting traditional boat racing festival in Trieu Phong district in 2024

On the occasion of the 117th anniversary of the birth of General Secretary Le Duan on April 7 (1907 - 2024), this morning, April 7, Trieu Phong district organized the 2024 Traditional Boat Racing Festival at the river wharf of Bac Phuoc village, Trieu Phuoc commune. This year's Trieu Phong district traditional boat racing festival brings together more than 300 male and female athletes from 30 male and female dragon boat racing teams and mixed dragon boat racing teams from 18 communes and towns in Trieu Phong district. For the men's event, there are 18 teams divided into 2 categories: A and B competing in 12-person dragon boats (the 6th ranked team of category A in 2024 will be relegated to category B in 2025 and the first ranked team of category B in 2024 will be promoted to category A in 2025); for the women's category A, there are 6 teams competing in 12-person dragon boats; for the mixed dragon boat category A, there are 6 teams competing in 12-person dragon boats; competing at a distance of 2 km.

The Traditional Boat Racing Festival of Trieu Phong district is held annually to create a useful playground for athletes and people from all walks of life to meet, exchange, compete and express their love and passion for traditional boat racing.

Through the boat racing festival, we aim to develop the sports movement, maintain the traditional boat racing movement, so that boat racing becomes a key sport of Trieu Phong district; create a vibrant competitive atmosphere, build cultural and spiritual life and improve people's health, contributing to building and defending the Fatherland.

This is to select the boat racing teams with excellent achievements to join the Trieu Phong district team to participate in the traditional boat racing tournament "National Reunification Festival" of Quang Tri province in 2024.

At the end of the festival, the Organizing Committee awarded the First Prize to the Trieu Thuan Commune Team, the Second Prize to the Trieu Thuong Commune Team, the Third Prize to the Ai Tu Town Team; awarded the First, Second, and Third Prizes in the three categories of men's dragon boat, women's dragon boat, and mixed dragon boat to the teams with high achievements.
