On the morning of April 18, the People's Committee of Hoan Kiem District opened the event series "Books expand the world of thinking" at Hanoi Book Street (19/12 Street, Hoan Kiem District).
In his opening speech, Vice Chairman of Hoan Kiem District People's Committee Nguyen Quoc Hoan emphasized that with the aim of honoring books and developing reading culture, Hanoi Book Street was established on May 1, 2017. After 8 years of operation, Hanoi Book Street has become a cultural space, traditional educational activities serving the public and book lovers of the capital, contributing to preserving and promoting the value of Thang Long - Hanoi with a thousand years of civilization.
According to the Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi Book Street is increasingly developing, overcoming shortcomings, together with publishers, bookstores, units and individuals successfully organizing many activities and events to develop reading culture, attracting the attention of many people and readers in the capital. In particular, the series of events with the theme "Books expand the world of thinking", with many organized activities are practical activities at Hanoi Book Street, creating a joyful, solemn but close atmosphere, attracting readers.
The series of events contributed to affirming Hanoi Book Street as a unique cultural space of the capital, a meaningful destination, attracting a large number of people to participate, creating a positive mark in the spiritual life of the city's people.
At the opening ceremony, the Organizing Committee awarded prizes for the drawing contest on the content of the book I love with the message "Books expand the world of thinking" for students studying at primary and secondary schools in Hoan Kiem district and Hanoi city; launched a movement to donate books to the community bookshelf "Ship of Knowledge" of Hanoi Book Street.
During the days from April 18 to 20, besides introducing a variety of book genres such as literature, history, religion, economics, science, children's, foreign languages, etc., publishing and distribution units also focus on serving readers with book genres that combine technological elements and innovation in the form of expression such as: e-books, talking books, audio books, movie books, motion books, interactive books...
In addition, readers can also participate in discussion, workshop and art activities to promote and develop reading culture such as: Discussion "The relationship between reading activities and intellectual development in childhood" (8am on April 19), discussion "Famous ancient professions - Discovering traditional craft villages of Vietnam" (3pm on April 19), talk show "Numerology for a successful career: Discover lucky numbers and development orientation", "Happy Faces - English for preschool children" (3pm on April 20); exchange and donation of 1 million books to enrich the Vietnamese people - Haliotimes (8am on April 20); art performance program to celebrate Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day April 21 (6pm on April 19)...
