The tournament is not only for physical training but also to create a healthy playground to connect compatriots and fellow countrymen, helping each other when facing difficulties in a foreign land.
On November 24, the Vietnamese National Football Championship in Japan "FAVIJA Champions Cup 2024" took place in Saitama province.
The tournament brings together 32 teams that have won first, second and third prizes in 9 regional tournaments in 7 regions across Japan, including Kanto, Chubu, Tokai, Kansai, Hokuriku, Chugoku and Kyushu.
FAVIJA Champions Cup 2024, organized by the Vietnam-Japan International Exchange Organization (FAVIJA), with the sponsorship of the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan and Japanese authorities. Matches within the tournament framework take place simultaneously on 8 fields at the Resland Sports Complex, Saitama City.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, the representative of the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan, Mr. Vu Tien Han, said: "Currently, the number of Vietnamese people in Japan has reached more than 600,000 people, the majority of whom are young people. In addition to studying and working, young people really need healthy playgrounds. FAVIJA Champions Cup 2024 is one of the useful playgrounds for young people working in Japan, creating opportunities for entertainment, sports training, health as well as enhancing communication and connection within the community and with the Japanese people."
Mr. Do Quang Ba, Chairman of FAVIJA, also emphasized that the purpose of the tournament is not only to improve health but also to create a healthy playground to connect the feelings of compatriots and fellow countrymen, helping each other in difficult times in a foreign land.
Mr. Tran Anh Tay, representative of Ha Tinh Fukuoka football team, Kyushu, shared that to reach the final round of FAVIJA Champions Cup 2024, Ha Tinh Fukuoka football team participated and won the championship at the Vietnamese Football Championship in Kyushu. He said that all members of the team of 20 people were present in Saitama from the morning of November 23 with an eager mood because they were able to participate in the final round of Vietnamese football across Japan.
Although the core force of the football teams are young Vietnamese, according to the regulations of the Organizing Committee, each team is allowed to register a maximum of 2 Japanese players and no more than 3 players who are amateur football stars from Vietnam to participate. This helps to improve the quality and at the same time further strengthen the close relationship between overseas Vietnamese and the Japanese people.
Sato Yoshihara from Machida, Tokyo, said this is his second time participating in the FAVIJA Champions Cup 2024 as a player. He said he has many Vietnamese colleagues at his part-time job and they are all really nice.
Sharing the reason for joining the Vietnamese amateur football team in Japan, he said that he was invited by his Vietnamese colleagues to join the team and he really liked the people and the atmosphere of the matches. The first time he joined and met the team members, he felt really happy.
After a day of exciting and dramatic competition, the Championship Cup belonged to FC T-Connect Binh Dinh. Second place went to FC Asahi. The two third place teams were FC ISC and FC Uni-co Hai Phong.
The Organizing Committee also awarded individual prizes, with player Pablo Miura of FC ISC winning the title of Top Scorer, player Trinh Huynh Anh Minh of FC Asahi winning the title of Best Goalkeeper and player Tran Thang of FC T-Connect Binh Dinh winning the title of Best Player.
According to FAJIVA, 232 teams previously participated in the qualifying matches from March 17 to October 27, making the 2024 FAVIJA Champions Cup the season with the most participating teams ever./.
