In 2002, Nguyen Van Quang volunteered to join the army. After the new soldier training course, Quang was sent to study information and then returned to work at Battalion 10, General Staff Department, Division 363. Here, Quang met Van, also a 5x5 map reporter. At first sight, Quang fell in love with the young soldier with a petite figure, fair skin, a bright smile always on her lips, and a gentle and kind demeanor.
Working together and living far from home, Quang and Van often confide in each other, share stories about life, work and the future, encourage each other, overcome difficulties and complete their duty of guarding the Division Headquarters well. However, Van still only sees Quang as a younger brother and colleague because Van is 2 years older than Quang.

At the end of 2003, due to the unit's mission requirements, Quang had to go to reinforce the base unit to perform combat duty. Every morning, Quang had to report the unit's situation via the internal information line to the Division Command. Van was often the one who directly received Quang's telegrams to convey and report to the unit commander. It was just polite greetings and brief reports over the phone, but the two felt strangely close and intimate. After a long time, they became accustomed to it. On days when Quang did not call to report the situation, Van missed him and would find a way to call to hear Quang's voice. Through the information line, Quang and Van became more and more connected, and their feelings for each other also developed...
In mid-2005, after finishing his assignment, Quang returned to his unit, which was also the time when Quang and Van's feelings had matured. The two officially accepted each other's love. During Tet 2009, Quang asked for permission from his unit to take Van back to his hometown in Kim Thanh (Hai Duong) to meet his parents. At home, Van scored points with Quang's parents when she personally wrapped beautiful Tet banh chung and cooked traditional dishes to the family's taste... In January 2010, Quang and Van officially moved in together in the joy of both families, friends, comrades, and teammates. Now they have a happy home with two healthy, obedient, and studious sons.
Due to the unit's mission requirements, at the end of 2017, Quang was transferred to work at the Logistics Department (now the Logistics-Technical Department of Division 363), while Van was transferred to work at Company 9, Staff Department of Division 363. Although they were not in the same unit, they still secretly promised each other to strive to practice, study and excellently complete the assigned tasks.
Now, every time they remember their love story, the military couple recalls the phone calls as a beautiful memory. They silently thank the military environment and their comrades who have nurtured their happiness as a couple.
