Soc Trang: Nearly 200 athletes participate in the 2025 Taekwondo Championship

The match between the 45 kg women's team and the My Xuyen district team

According to the Organizing Committee, the tournament has 12 teams from provincial agencies and Taekwondo clubs from districts, towns and cities in the province registered to participate, with a total of nearly 200 athletes competing.

The competition consists of two parts: The competition has 16 weight categories, 8 for men and 8 for women. The performance competition has 6 categories: men's individual, women's individual, men's team, women's team, men's doubles and women's doubles.

Athletes competed for 21 sets of medals, including 5 standard boxing medals and 16 combat medals for men's and women's weight categories.

Mr. Nguyen Van My, Vice Chairman of Chau Thanh District People's Committee, Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee said: This year's Soc Trang Provincial Taekwondo Championship held in Chau Thanh District is an annual tournament within the system of sports competitions of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Soc Trang province in 2025.

Through the tournament, it aims to create conditions for Taekwondo coaches and athletes to exchange and learn from each other's experiences among participating units and clubs.

At the same time, to evaluate the Taekwondo training movement in Soc Trang province in general and Chau Thanh district in particular, thereby discovering and selecting young talents to orient training and fostering for high-performance sports in Soc Trang province.

Immediately after the opening, the tournament took place with exciting final matches of the weight classes.

Mr. Lam Thanh Dung, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, awarded the First, Second and Third prizes to the female audience in the 45 kg weight class.

In the men's -37kg weight class, the gold medal went to boxer Trieu Gia Huy (Chau Thanh 1), and the silver medal was awarded to boxer Nguyen Hoang Minh Luan (Cu Lao Dung).

In the men's -41kg weight class: boxer Ly Thanh Nghia (Soc Trang city) competed excellently when defeating boxer Nguyen Truong Ngoc Thien (Cu Lao Dung) to win the championship.

Previously, the results of the men's individual boxing competition, the gold medal belonged to martial artist Dao Binh Nha (Soc Trang city); the women's individual gold medal belonged to martial artist Vo Thi Kim Han (Chau Thanh 1); the men's and women's doubles gold medal was awarded to Xuan Thao - Huy Hoang (Chau Thanh 1); the women's team boxing event belonged to Chau Thanh 1 unit...

This is a sports activity to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025); the 139th anniversary of International Labor Day (May 1); and the 135th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2025).

At the same time, responding to the campaign "All people exercise following the example of great Uncle Ho", promoting the Taekwondo training movement in the province and creating conditions for martial artists in localities to compete, exchange, learn experiences and improve their professional qualifications.
