Medical examination and treatment facilities also need to closely inspect and monitor the advertising, marketing, consulting, prescribing or instructing the use of non-medicinal products (such as milk, functional foods) but providing information on disease prevention, treatment or diagnosis, treatment, disease mitigation, or adjustment of body functions... Medical knowledge must not be used to advertise falsely, and at the same time, hospitals must ensure that nutritional activities comply with regulations.
“Medical facilities must review medical staff who advise, introduce, and sell functional food and milk products to patients and their relatives. When violations are discovered, the units must handle them strictly, absolutely not cover up or condone them,” Dr. Trung emphasized.
Previously, the Ministry of Health also issued Document No. 2350/BYT-KCB to directors of hospitals under the Ministry and directors of provincial and municipal health departments on strengthening inspection and supervision of the implementation of legal regulations in medical examination and treatment in the context of the emergence of medical staff advising and instructing patients and their families to use dairy products of a number of enterprises producing and distributing counterfeit goods under investigation.
The Ministry of Health also requires hospitals to review the milk and nutritional products that they advise patients to use. Accordingly, hospitals must review when they were used, who they were used for, and inform patients. If patients have health problems related to the use of these products, the medical facility must take responsibility for advising their use.

In addition, medical facilities must check the list of drugs and types of drugs in use, compare it with the list of counterfeit drugs recently discovered by the police, and take measures to handle violations if they are detected. Hospitals also need to review the prescription of non-medicinal products to detect and correct cases that are not in accordance with regulations.
