On the afternoon of July 27, the Vietnam Center for Music Copyright Protection (VCPMC) announced that on July 21, the Korea Music Copyright Association (KOMCA) sent a letter to VCPMC. Accordingly, this unit requested coordination regarding copyright infringement of musical works belonging to KOMCA members in the performance of the music group Blackpink in Vietnam.

VCPMC said that when it was informed that Blackpink would be touring in Hanoi at the end of July, VCPMC contacted IME Vietnam Company to request permission and pay royalties before the show took place according to the provisions of copyright law.

However, according to VCPMC, as of July 27, IME Vietnam Company has not yet fulfilled its copyright obligations according to the working process discussed by the two parties.

Second, all 13 works according to Approval Document No. 2438/SVHTT-QLNT of the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports are under the protection of VCPMC through bilateral contracts with a number of copyright representative organizations; of which, 12 works are members of KOMCA.

Therefore, VCPMC has sent a document to the Hanoi People's Committee and the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports requesting to revoke the performance license of the Korean band Blackpink in Hanoi.

According to a private source of Dan Tri reporter, the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports has received a document requesting to revoke Blackpink's performance license and is meeting with a number of related units on this issue. However, this source also said that VCPMC must provide evidence of violations by the organizing unit in order to revoke the license.

Meanwhile, Dan Tri reporter contacted IME company, the show organizer said there was no response on this issue.
