ATM card number and bank account number are two completely different concepts.

Accordingly, the ATM card number is a series of numbers embossed directly on the front or back surface of the ATM card, used to transfer money to an account number or make online payments and not receive money.

Bank account number is a series of numbers provided by the bank immediately after the customer registers to open a card/open an account to receive or transfer money.

Distinguish between card number and bank account number

Card number

ATM card number is a series of 16 or 19 numbers depending on each different bank. Through this series of numbers, the bank can identify and distinguish different cards in the same system.

Card numbers are important when used to make financial transactions, including cash withdrawals, transfers, bill payments, and online shopping. In particular, card numbers are also used to verify the identity of the cardholder and protect their account from unauthorized use.

ATM card numbers are structured according to international credit card industry standards. These digits are divided into 4 groups, each group will have a specific characteristic and meaning:

First 4 digits: is the State assigned code or also known as BIN code

Next 2 digits: is the bank code (each bank will have its own numbers)

The next 4 digits: are the CIF (Customer Information File) number - a series of numbers identifying the customer's information file.

The remaining numbers are provided by the bank to distinguish customer accounts within the same system.

According to State regulations, each bank will have its own BIN code. The BIN code is used to distinguish different banks and also provides transaction information between banks without having to use traditional methods.

Account number

The account number is a series of numbers you are given when opening a bank card, helping you easily make transactions. Each different bank will have a different account number, which can be 12, 13 digits or even 14, 15 digits. For example, at Agribank, the popular account numbers today include: 130, 490, 318...

Bank account number plays an important role when customers make transactions such as receiving money, transferring money. Especially when opening an online account, you need to provide the account number to create a personal online bank account for the cardholder.

When making bank transfer requests within the system or outside the system, you must enter the account number, from which the bank can identify the account owner.

Notes on using card numbers and account numbers

- Distinguish between card number and account number: If the transaction is unsuccessful, please check again to see if there is a mistake in the card number and account number.

- Only banks that are affiliated/belong to the Napas system can transfer money to each other via card numbers.

- Secure and keep your card and account number safe to avoid having your money stolen.

- If you want to transact with another account, you need to carefully check the recipient's account number or your account number to avoid transferring or receiving money to the wrong account.
