In 2023, OPPO officially entered the foldable smartphone market in Vietnam with the Find N3 model, marking a big step forward in the high-end segment. By 2025, the company continued to affirm its position when bringing the successor version of Find N5 with a series of outstanding improvements and genuine sales.
The appearance of these two foldable screen phones not only demonstrates OPPO's ambition in shaping technology trends, but also creates opportunities for Vietnamese users to experience high-end devices.
A series of valuable upgrades
From a distance, the overall appearance of the Find N5 does not change much compared to its predecessor, the Find N3. The device still retains a soft design with a "cosmic circle" camera cluster highlighted on the back. However, users will clearly feel the difference as soon as they hold the new version.
Find N5 is currently the world's thinnest folding smartphone when folded. Specifically, OPPO Find N5 is only 8.93mm thin when folded and 4.21mm thin when opened. Meanwhile, the previous version Find N3 is 11.7mm thick when folded and 5.8mm when opened.
The weight of Find N5 is also quite ideal at only 229g, equivalent to many high-end bar smartphones. Meanwhile, Find N3 weighs a little more at 239g. The thin and light design helps Find N5 bring a more natural and comfortable grip experience, even when using the product with one hand in full screen mode.
In particular, the Find N3 version has a relatively thick and heavy camera cluster design, causing the weight of the device to be concentrated towards the top. Meanwhile, the Find N5 has a longer screen ratio and a thinner camera cluster, helping to bring a more balanced and comfortable grip experience.
In addition, Find N5 has a sturdy frame made of high-grade 7 series aluminum alloy, increasing durability by 30% compared to the previous generation. The outer screen is equipped with super-durable nanocrystal glass, increasing impact resistance by up to 20%.
On the Find N5 version, OPPO has made many major improvements to the hinge. OPPO said that the Find N5 is equipped with a new generation of titanium alloy bending hinge technology. Compared to the previous generation, the hinge of the device is 26% smaller but 36% stronger, helping to bring outstanding stability when opening and closing.
The Find N5's hinge uses grade 5 Titanium. This is a high-grade alloy that is durable, lighter, and more resistant to deformation than aluminum. In addition, the company also uses 3D printing technology to manufacture high-precision parts, helping the hinge fit perfectly when opening and closing.
Not only that, the main bearing parts of the hinge are made of UHSS 2000 MPa super hard steel, which has a bearing capacity many times higher than conventional materials. This helps the Find N5 hinge to be highly durable and resistant throughout the product's life cycle.
The hinge on the Find N5 allows users to open and close it at more different angles of use. Meanwhile, the hinge on the Find N3 has a relatively soft design, supporting fewer opening and closing angles during use.
In return, the Find N3 has a more convenient screen folding experience. When folded, the two edges of the screen on the Find N3 are designed with a small gap, giving users a fulcrum to easily open the device. The Find N5 version is designed to be more monolithic, but this also makes the screen opening experience more difficult.
When opened, the OPPO Find N5 has an 8.12-inch main screen. This is the largest screen among the current horizontal folding smartphones. This size not only provides a spacious display space for entertainment and work, but is also larger than some popular tablet models on the market.
The Find N5's external display has also been increased to 6.62 inches in size with a 20.7:9 ratio, providing a familiar and comfortable experience like a traditional bar phone. This external display is large enough to comfortably use for everyday tasks such as web surfing, email, messaging and typing on a virtual keyboard.
The Find N3 and Find N5 both have good display quality that is comparable to most high-end phones on the market. The crease in the middle of the screen of both devices is also well handled, almost not affecting the visual experience during daily use.
In addition, the Find N5 also shows its superiority in durability as it is the world's first foldable smartphone to achieve IPX9 water resistance. In addition to the usual IPX8 water resistance, this device is also proven to be able to withstand high-pressure water jets even in the most extreme temperature conditions.
With the advantage of being a newly launched product, OPPO Find N5 is equipped with more powerful hardware with Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, 16GB RAM and 512GB internal memory. In terms of battery life, OPPO Find N5 continues to show its superiority thanks to the integration of a new generation Silicon-carbon battery with a capacity of 5,600mAh, supporting 80W Super VOOC fast charging.
In addition, the Find N5 also stands out when equipped with the ability to "communicate" with the iPhone. In addition, the OPPO Find N5 also breaks the ecosystem barrier thanks to its ability to seamlessly connect with Apple's macOS platform through the O+ Connect application.
Some trade-offs
Find N3 is equipped with a camera system including a 48MP main lens, a 64MP periscope lens and a 48MP ultra-wide-angle lens. Meanwhile, the Find N5 version has a camera system with a 50MP main lens, a 50MP telephoto lens supporting 3x optical zoom and an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens.
Similar to the Find N3 version, OPPO continues to cooperate with Hasselblad to refine the camera system on the Find N5 version. This makes the camera system on both devices have many similarities in image processing, color and level of detail.
However, the image quality taken from the ultra-wide-angle camera on the Find N3 version is superior in both detail and color. This is a trade-off on the Find N5 version to get an ultra-thin design.
In addition, another factor that the Find N5 does not do as well as the Find N3 is the quality of the speaker. The Find N5's speaker has a lower volume and weaker bass than the Find N3's speaker. This is also a physical limitation because the Find N5 is too thin.
