Earlier on the morning of June 30, Ms. M., a parent whose child took the high school graduation exam in room 2500, Nguyen Du High School (District 10, Ho Chi Minh City) reported to Tuoi Tre Online : "During the literature exam, when the candidates had already finished the exam for a while, the exam supervisor gave them new papers and asked them to do it again on new papers. The reason was because this officer mistakenly signed in the box for the exam examiner.

Meanwhile, our children are not allowed to make up the time because they have to copy the test on new paper. Not to mention that such a change causes negative psychology for candidates during the test. This is a disadvantage for candidates...".

Speaking to Tuoi Tre Online on the afternoon of June 30, Mr. Nguyen Van Hieu - Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, said: "The invigilator mistakenly signed in the box of the examiner. When he discovered it, this officer arbitrarily distributed the paper and asked the candidates to do the test on a new paper."

According to Mr. Hieu, on the afternoon of June 30, the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City had a meeting with parents, test site managers, test invigilators, and test room supervisors of room 2500 at the test site of Nguyen Du High School, District 10.

The incident occurred during the literature test of the high school graduation exam (morning of June 27, 2024). After about 10 minutes of the test, the invigilator discovered that he had mistakenly signed the marking box on the test paper.

Then, the invigilator arbitrarily distributed the test papers to all the candidates in the room and asked them to do the test on new papers.

At this time, the remaining invigilator did not agree with that solution and requested a report to the examination room supervisor. The incident was then reported to the head of the examination site.

Upon learning of the incident, the head of the examination site at Nguyen Du High School, District 10 (who is a principal of a high school in District 10, Ho Chi Minh City) decided to let the candidates continue to take the test on the old exam paper to ensure their rights.

As a result, some candidates took the test on the new exam paper, some took the test on the old exam paper. However, according to the Department's records, the majority of candidates took the test on the old exam paper.

Mr. Hieu informed: "At the working session on the afternoon of June 30, on behalf of the Ho Chi Minh City High School Graduation Examination Council, I admitted my shortcomings to the parents of the students. At the same time, I also criticized the leaders of the Nguyen Du High School examination site for not closely monitoring the examination room when the incident occurred. The head of the examination site did not know that the examination room had issued new exam papers to the candidates. The Department will take measures to handle the officials who let this mistake happen."

According to Mr. Hieu, after the high school graduation exam marking in Ho Chi Minh City is completed, the department will establish a council to review all 22 literature exams of 22 candidates in exam room 2500. "From there, the department will have solutions to ensure the rights of candidates," Mr. Hieu affirmed.

Graduation exam scores will be announced on July 17.

It is known that for the 2024 high school graduation exam, Ho Chi Minh City has 162 exam sites. Nguyen Du High School exam site has 30 exam rooms, with 720 candidates.

Currently, the high school graduation exam marking council in Ho Chi Minh City has begun marking and marking the exam. The results of this exam will be announced at 8:00 a.m. on July 17, 2024.
