On the evening of June 30th, the Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, Nguyen Van Hieu, issued an official response regarding the incident where an invigilator mistakenly signed in the wrong place, affecting the rights of a candidate in an examination room at the Nguyen Du High School examination center (District 10) during the 2024 high school graduation exam.
The Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training stated that the department had worked with the leaders of the exam center at Nguyen Du High School (District 10) after receiving feedback from parents.
Specifically, in examination room 2500, during the Literature exam (morning of June 27th), the invigilator discovered that the examiner had mistakenly signed in the wrong box on the exam paper. At the time the error was discovered, the students had already been working on the exam for about 10 minutes.
The two invigilators reported the incident to the supervisor outside the examination room, who then reported it to the head of the examination center.
The course of action taken by the exam center's leadership was to instruct the invigilator in that room to allow the student to continue writing on the incorrectly signed exam paper, so as not to affect the student's ability to complete the exam.
However, in reality, some candidates in the aforementioned examination room were given new exam papers and retook the exam, resulting in some students working on the new papers while others continued working on the old ones.
The head of Ho Chi Minh City's education and training department acknowledged that the incident affected the performance of candidates in examination room 2500 at Nguyen Du High School (District 10).
Therefore, the Department of Education and Training will take disciplinary action against the two invigilators, the head and deputy head of this examination center.
Furthermore, to ensure maximum protection of the rights of candidates in examination room 2500 for the Literature exam (the subject where the invigilator mistakenly signed in the wrong place), Mr. Nguyen Van Hieu stated that after the exam papers of candidates in this room are graded according to the normal procedure, the Department will have a grading team review all Literature exam papers from this room to ensure that no student is disadvantaged in terms of their rights.
Therefore, parents and candidates can rest assured that the incident of the invigilator mistakenly signing the wrong document will not affect the rights of the candidates.
