On the afternoon of August 20, the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City issued a document announcing the conclusion of Mr. Nguyen Bao Quoc, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, at a working session with the American International School (AISVN).

According to the Department of Education and Training of the city, on August 20, the department held a meeting on the educational activities of AISVN. At the meeting, AISVN reported on the implementation of contents to ensure the resumption of activities and the transfer of students to ensure the right to study of students in the 2024-2025 school year. In addition, the departments under the Department of Education and Training also gave their opinions.

After listening to the report and comments, the Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training concluded, specifically: AISVN is not allowed to conduct a survey to determine whether students will continue to study at the school or not. At the same time, during the suspension period, the school is not allowed to organize any educational activities according to regulations.

Notify parents of students about school transfers and guide parents through school transfer procedures.

Assign someone in charge to sign the transfer documents and require this to be done before the start of the new school year to avoid affecting the student's enrollment time.

Schools must comply with current regulations. If there is any illegal behavior, the Department of Education and Training will apply measures to ensure that the school complies with regulations.

When the unit submits a complete application and sufficient evidence to ensure the conditions for resuming operations, the Department of Education and Training will consider the request for a license to resume educational operations. Up to now, the school has not ensured the conditions for educational operations.

For departments under the Department of Education and Training: Review data on students transferring schools, coordinate with departments of education and training, high schools in the city to create favorable conditions for AISVN students who need to transfer schools, ensuring that students are enrolled on schedule for the 2024-2025 school year.

Monitor and check AISVN's supporting documents if the unit submits an application in the near future; at the same time, proactively coordinate with relevant departments to grasp the situation of the unit's budget obligations, in order to consider the school's resumption of educational activities.

At present, AISVN is not qualified to resume operations in time for the 2024-2025 school year.

According to the HCM City Department of Education and Training, after suspending operations, the investor and the school board of AISVN sent the department a number of documents and records... However, considering that the records did not meet the requirements, the HCM City Department of Education and Training issued a document and had a meeting with the Chairwoman of the AISVN Board, Ms. Nguyen Thi Ut Em, to provide detailed instructions on the process and explain the regulations and procedures for allowing educational activities to resume.

The City Department of Education and Training assessed that up to now, the school has not been approved by the Department of Education and Training for educational cooperation because it has not completed the approval documents for the integrated program according to the comments of the Ministry of Education and Training, has not been assigned enrollment quotas for grade 10, and has not been allowed to enroll students in the first grade classes...

Regarding financial resources: American International Education Joint Stock Company AIS has not provided documents demonstrating sufficient financial resources as prescribed to ensure the maintenance and development of educational activities....

"Considering the current conditions, AISVN is not qualified to resume operations in time for the 2024-2025 school year because it has not provided sufficient evidence to show that it has overcome the causes leading to the suspension," the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training concluded.

Along with that, the Department of Education and Training of the City also proposed a solution for the new school year: Requesting the AISVN Council to immediately send information to all parents of students of the school that the school cannot organize the opening ceremony of the new school year as planned because it does not have enough conditions to resume operations in time for the 2024-2025 school year and to fully carry out the procedures to support students to transfer schools within the week in time for the new school year starting from August 26.

The Department of Education and Training continues to provide detailed instructions to parents on how to transfer students to other schools, monitor school activities, coordinate with the City Police and relevant departments to monitor the activities of AIS American International Education Joint Stock Company...

As reported by Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper , since August 8, many parents of AISVN have received a notice from Ms. Nguyen Thi Ut Em, Chairwoman of the AISVN Council, stating that AISVN will hold the opening ceremony of the new school year despite being suspended from educational activities for 12 months from July 1, 2024.
