As reported by Thanh Nien Newspaper, on September 22, some parents of students at the American International School Vietnam denounced and demanded that the school pay tens of billions of dong in debt.
Providing information to Thanh Nien Newspaper reporters, Mr. NCT, a parent of a student at the American International School Vietnam, said that in February 2018, the school, through its legal representative, Ms. Nguyen Thi Ut Em (Chairwoman of the School Board), signed a loan contract with him for a total amount of about 5 billion VND, with an interest rate of 0%.
The terms of the loan agreement are that Mr. T.’s two children will receive tuition-free education and training during their regular school years. According to the agreement, the school will return the loan when his two children finish school or transfer to another school.
By December 2022, Mr. T. had completed the transfer procedures and had many meetings and worked with school representatives. The school promised to repay the loan amount according to the contract by March 2023.
"The school committed in writing to refund me from March 19 to June 30, 2023 in 4 installments. However, after many months of waiting, I still have not received the money. After that, Ms. Ut Em committed in the working minutes to pay me in 3 installments from July 15 to September 15, but until now I still have not received any money," said Mr. T.
It is known that on the morning of September 21, some parents brought banners to the American International School Vietnam demanding that the school pay the debt according to the contract.
