On November 12, the Department of Education and Training of Da Nang City responded to citizens' opinions on the city's Feedback portal about the department's notice for students to stay home from school to avoid storms and heavy rain.

Accordingly, a citizen sent comments to the Department of Education and Training of Da Nang City, suggesting that the department should have "timely, accurate and thoughtful" announcements about letting students stay home due to storms.

This opinion cited that last October, the Department of Education and Training of Da Nang City announced a school break when the storm had passed and the weather was sunny, making people extremely upset.

On November 5, in Da Nang City, there was heavy rain, many roads were flooded, the Department just announced a school break from around 6:40 to 7:30 when thousands of parents and students had already arrived at school.

On November 5, schools announced a closure at a time when it was raining heavily and close to class time, so many parents who had taken their children to school had to turn back.

"This makes people turn back, causing huge impacts, while students at school will be safer" - the opinion stated and suggested that the Department of Education and Training of Da Nang City needs to have more "realistic" documents.

Responding to the above comments, the Department of Education and Training of Da Nang City said that allowing preschool children, students, and trainees across the city to stay home from school is to ensure their safety when traveling and commuting. At the same time, it is to minimize damage caused by storms and heavy rains.

The school closure notices issued by the department are based on information from the Hydrometeorological Station warning of heavy rain in the city and directive documents from the City People's Committee; the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control, Search and Rescue and the City Civil Defense.
