The number of measles cases tends to increase rapidly.

In 2024, Hanoi recorded 259 measles cases in 30/30 districts, towns and cities. The number of measles cases is currently higher than the same period in 2023 (no records). Patients are distributed by age group: 75 cases under 9 months old (29%); 47 cases 9 - 11 months old (18.1%); 85 cases 1 - 5 years old (32.8%); 21 cases 6 - 10 years old (8.1%); 31 cases over 10 years old (12%).

People need to vaccinate their children fully and on schedule with all types of vaccines to prevent diseases.

CDC Hanoi assessed that the number of measles cases is increasing rapidly, mainly in people who have not been vaccinated or have not been fully vaccinated. It is forecasted that there will continue to be more cases, especially in children under 1 year old and over 5 years old.

The Hanoi Department of Health has directed medical centers in districts, towns and cities to strengthen surveillance of suspected measles rash fever, conduct epidemiological investigations, collect samples for testing of 100% of suspected cases, organize zoning, and thoroughly handle areas with patients and outbreaks according to regulations. Continue to screen children aged 1-5 years old living in the city who have not been fully vaccinated to organize additional vaccinations. At the same time, increase timely and complete information on the epidemic situation and measures to prevent some diseases such as measles, dengue fever and common diseases in winter and spring. Remind people to have their children fully vaccinated on schedule with all types of vaccines to prevent diseases.

According to Bach Mai Hospital (Hanoi), doctors have recently received cases of measles in adults with severe complications. These patients are in Hanoi and some northern provinces. Symptoms of measles in adults are often similar to those in children, but may appear milder or less obvious. Some typical symptoms include: high fever, conjunctivitis, dry cough, runny nose, erythema (tiny red spots appear on the skin, usually starting on the face and spreading to the whole body).
