Viettel Telecom representative said that the size of the M2M (machine-to-machine) and IoT market in Vietnam in 2021 is about 2.5 billion USD and growing at a rate of 22.6%/year. To support businesses developing IoT in Vietnam, Mr. Nguyen Van Son said that Viettel is a pioneer in building a network, committed to accompanying businesses to ensure connection infrastructure such as 3G, 4G, 5G... Building open platforms for businesses to use, including platforms provided for free and platforms provided in cooperation. In addition, Viettel is also a pioneer in developing a number of IoT devices such as smarthome, wearable devices to provide businesses at reasonable prices.
Meanwhile, Mr. Vu Anh Tuan, General Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Informatics Association, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City IoT Club, shared that the club conducted a quick survey of IoT businesses and found that, currently, to develop this field, a complete legal framework is needed to be implemented in a standard manner; There needs to be common standards so that businesses can connect with each other to avoid waste; The most important market today is the Government market, which will be the locomotive pulling other markets; Capital is also a factor, as 98% of businesses in the field are currently small and micro, with low capital, leading to limited investment.
According to Mr. Vu Anh Tuan, to develop IoT in Vietnam, the initiative of enterprises plays an important role, while policies only help stabilize and promote the market.

According to Mr. Tran Tuan Anh, in any field, the market is an important factor. Currently, IoT enterprises in Vietnam can be mentioned as Viettel, VNPT, MobiFone, in which, focusing on building widely applied platforms, sharing data, developing quickly and synchronously. In this field, state agencies create a legal framework for enterprises to compete in providing products to the market. Large enterprises such as Viettel, VNPT are responsible for developing open IoT platforms, while ICT enterprises such as FPT, CMC provide platforms, databases, digital platforms in general... according to market demand. At the same time, according to Mr. Tran Tuan Anh, enterprises must share information with each other to develop together.
To promote the development of the IoT market in Vietnam, Mr. Nguyen Trong Tinh, Deputy General Director of Viettel Telecom, hopes that Viettel will become a bridge for all experts and IoT enterprises in Vietnam and the region to update new trends in technology, grasp the orientations from the Government, share experiences and connect with the community. At the same time, Viettel is committed to supporting businesses as well as units that are strongly implementing digital transformation in the electricity, water, urban lighting sectors, etc. in consulting, connecting, deploying and operating IoT projects, from solution design to technical support and after-sales services.
Viettel Telecom representative said that IoT field in general and smarthome in particular will have remarkable development in the coming time and will not stop at the current density of 12%.
“To do this, Viettel cannot go it alone but needs the cooperation and companionship of all technology enterprises, especially in the fields of equipment supply, solution development and product supply to the market,” Mr. Nguyen Trong Tinh emphasized.
