Talking to Tuoi Tre Online , Dang Khoa said that conquering the SSEAYP "ticket" is one of the most exciting journeys he has ever experienced.

* How did Khoa prepare to get a ticket to SSEAYP?

- I have heard about SSEAYP since I was in middle school. The program's delegates are outstanding individuals, not only in youth work but also in academic achievements.

During the more than 2 months of applying, I always tried to include in my essay and interview ideas related to promoting the role of young people in solving social problems, especially in connection with sustainable development, building an equal, cohesive and inclusive community.

The memorable point in my selection process was the talent competition. I presented a bilingual program in English and French, combined with demonstrating my creative writing skills, composing and translating English and Vietnamese poetry.

* Being fluent in both French and English and also a long-time translator and interpreter for the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union, how did Khoa get involved in this job?

- I had the opportunity to work as a translator and interpreter since I was in 10th grade. At that time, I actively participated in Youth Union activities, so my seniors knew me and asked me to help translate some content.

At first, my assigned task was just to write "captions" on the Thanh Doan's fanpage, but gradually, when I reached "maturity" in the profession, I became a translator for 3 books of the Ho Chi Minh City Thanh Doan.

From translating on paper, on books, in online conferences, to cabin interpreting or consecutive interpreting, I have had the opportunity to try my hand at almost every field. The above experiences have supported me a lot at SSEAYP, helping me to be more confident when presenting, answering interviews, as well as impressing the judges in the talent round.

* What did the Faculty learn from the opportunities to interact with young people in ASEAN and Japan?

- I see that ASEAN countries and Japan have a high cultural diversity. Accompanying the delegates on a long journey, I made many new friends and learned many interesting things about the countries, people and traditions of other countries.

The discussion activities with international experts and young people in the program will give me more inspiration and motivation to study more deeply about the field of study. I will use my knowledge and experience to contribute to the prosperous and modern development of the country in the future.

As a young person with great passion and pride for the Vietnamese language and literature, I will definitely promote this beauty to international friends. One of my biggest wishes in this chapter is to translate Vietnamese poetry into English, while preserving the beauty of tone, rhythm and rhyme, to share with friends from ASEAN and Japan.

During the SSEAYP journey, I always tried to support the Vietnamese delegation in their preparations and actively interacted, shared, and expressed my opinions when participating in activities within the program, contributing to conveying the image of young Vietnamese people who are dynamic, daring to think, dare to do, and confidently strive to integrate.

Energetic guy, always dedicated

Mr. Phung Tien Khoa, an officer of the Propaganda and External Relations Department of the City Youth Union, commented: "Thai Nguyen Dang Khoa is a very active young man in activities, always wholeheartedly supporting his seniors.

Khoa always shows his seriousness and professionalism when participating in translation and interpretation. Khoa is a very cute boy, always cheerful with everyone so everyone loves him."

SSEAYP delegate with many achievements

Khoa was honored to be admitted to the Party at the age of 18, when he was a student in the specialized math class at Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted (HCMC). Throughout his high school years, he always maintained an average score of 9.8 and received the award for best student in the block many times in a row.

Not only achieving 8.5 IELTS and a series of large and small awards at the city and national levels, most recently Khoa won second prize in the 5th English Olympic competition for young cadres in 2023.
