Vietnamese and Korean students join forces in startup competition

Nhu Khue, a marketing student at Western Sydney University, said she skipped two internship interviews at two large companies to participate in the contest.

Khue said that she is an extrovert and loves art, especially movies. However, the Vietnamese film market is still quite far behind that of Korea. When she had the opportunity to form a startup group with Korean students, Khue proposed the idea of building an online learning platform about filmmaking.

"For final year students, internships at businesses are very important. However, opportunities to cooperate and compete with Korean students are not always available. I learned a lot from international students such as: Entrepreneurial thinking, ideas, teamwork, etc.," Khue shared.

"My team had 48 hours of intense work, I didn't even sleep. 5 minutes before the presentation round started, the team just finished the project. Participating in the competition helped me gain confidence and improve my English communication skills more" - Truc shared.

Dongseo University representative, Professor Park Suhyun expressed that the competition has helped students of the two countries grow up and exchange cultures together.

"43 talented students had a stressful 48-hour competition. Despite the time pressure, the teams completed the competition well with interesting startup ideas," said Professor Park Suhyun.

The competition aims to promote development based on global synergy, through the exchange of startup ecosystems of Vietnamese and Korean universities; enhance startup capabilities, popularize entrepreneurial culture through mutual exchanges between the two countries. At the same time, encourage students to pursue projects abroad, develop into future industry leaders.
