The festival aims to create conditions for Lao and Cambodian students studying in Ho Chi Minh City to celebrate the traditional New Year in a warm, joyful, friendly atmosphere, demonstrating the unique culture of the Lao and Cambodian people.
The festival recreated the rituals of wrist tying, water splashing, and wishing for good luck of the people of Laos and Cambodia.

On this occasion, the Vietnam - Southeast Asia Friendship Association of Ho Chi Minh City, the Vietnam - Cambodia Friendship Association of Ho Chi Minh City, the Liaison Committee with Overseas Vietnamese in District 3, Ho Chi Minh City and other units presented gifts and financial support for studying to Lao and Cambodian students on the occasion of the traditional New Year. The activity demonstrates the care, concern and solidarity of the city's government and people towards overseas students, helping to connect and strengthen the close neighborly relationship between the three countries of Vietnam - Laos - Cambodia.

Previously, on the evening of April 14, the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union also organized the traditional Bunpimay New Year festival (Laos) and the traditional Chol Chnam Thmey New Year festival (Cambodia) for Lao and Cambodian students studying in Ho Chi Minh City.
Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong, Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, on behalf of the Ho Chi Minh City leaders, wished Lao and Cambodian students studying in Ho Chi Minh City a peaceful, lucky and happy new year.
He said that Ho Chi Minh City is pleased and appreciates that Lao and Cambodian students have chosen Ho Chi Minh City to study and live. Ho Chi Minh City leaders always pay attention to and support them so that they can focus on their studies and learning, while actively contributing to the development of the diplomatic relations between Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia.
