The international information security competition “HackTheon Sejong” is organized by the special autonomous city of Sejong, Korea, with participants being students from universities and academies in and outside Korea.
Taking place in the form of Jeopardy (overcoming challenges - PV), the "HackTheon Sejong" competition consists of 2 rounds, with the preliminary round held online on April 27, and the final round held live in Korea on June 19.
As reported by VietNamNet , at the invitation of the Korean Embassy, the Department of Information Security (Ministry of Information and Communications) coordinated and sent student teams from Vietnamese universities to participate in the international information security competition “HackTheon Sejong”. After the preliminary round, out of 40 student teams that qualified for the final round, Vietnam had 14 teams, including 9 teams in the ‘Basic’ category and 5 teams in the ‘Advanced’ category.
The results of the competition of Vietnamese student teams at the final round of the international information security competition “HackTheon Sejong” have just been updated by the Department of Information Security; Vietnamese information security students won 1 Second Prize and 2 Encouragement Prizes in this competition.
Specifically, in the 'Basic' table, team 0range including 4 students Phung Van Tai, Nguyen Danh Kiet, Le Xuan Son and Phan Van Hoang Viet from the Academy of Cryptography Engineering won First Prize, with the results of completing the tests just a few seconds after the team that won the Special Prize.
Another Vietnamese student team, Team Temot from the University of Information Technology under the Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City, won the Encouragement Prize in the 'Basic' category. This team ranked fourth in the preliminary round.
Meanwhile, competing in the 'Advanced' category, team Nemchua36 from Hanoi University of Science and Technology also brought Vietnam another Encouragement prize in the "HackTheon Sejong" competition.
Previously, in 2023, Vietnamese student and expert teams participating in international and regional competitions on network information security achieved very high achievements, typically the First Prize in the world's largest cyber attack competition Pwn2Own Toronto 2023 in Canada (team of experts from Viettel Cyber Security Company - Viettel Cyber Security); Second Prize in the Cyber SEA Game 2023 competition (team of students from the University of Information Technology, Hanoi University of Science and Technology); First and Second Prizes (2 teams of students from the University of Information Technology - Ho Chi Minh City National University, Duy Tan University) in the 'Expert' category, and First Prize in the 'Student' category (team of students from Hanoi University of Science and Technology) in the Southeast Asia Cyber Security competition - ASEAN Cyber Shield 2023.
With the results that Vietnamese student teams have just achieved in the information security competition “HackTheon Sejong”, the Department of Information Security (Ministry of Information and Communications) commented that this achievement continues to affirm the quality of information security human resource training in Vietnam. From there, a generation of very high-quality information security students, confident when entering the international arena, is gradually formed, marking a new step in the development of information security human resource training and development in Vietnam.
