Fake notices from the Procuracy and school leaders sent to male students |
Accordingly, a few days ago, a first-year student reported to the Student Affairs Department that he received a call from a person claiming to be a Hanoi City Police officer asking him to join a Zoom call to prove that he did not participate or was not an accomplice in a money laundering group through the school's summer student exchange program in Japan.
“The call was accompanied by a notice of “Criminal Arrest and Asset Freezing Order” from the Procuracy. The information about the student’s name, student ID number, citizen identification number, etc. all matched, so the student was very worried. Luckily, the student shared the story with a classmate and the information was reported to the Student Affairs Office for timely reassurance,” the leader informed.

Student message to Student Affairs Office about the incident |
After verifying the information, realizing that this was a fake document and a new form of fraud, the Student Affairs Department of Nguyen Tat Thanh University sent out a warning notice to all students of the school.
According to the Student Affairs Office, students need to stay calm when receiving calls from individuals claiming to be government agencies requesting to work via phone, zalo, zoom, google meet. Authorities do not resolve cases or incidents via phone or messaging applications.

At the same time, Nguyen Tat Thanh University also recommends that students absolutely do not follow the requests of subjects such as not installing or logging into bank accounts on strange software via links or on web browsers. Do not accept video calls to avoid having biometric data collected. Do not provide OTP codes to subjects. Verify information and notifications about programs for students from the school's official information channels...
Previously, many schools such as Ho Chi Minh City University of Technical Education, Van Lang University, Ho Chi Minh City University of Foreign Languages and Information Technology... also had their leaders' signatures forged, documents from the Ministry of Education and Training forged to announce that students had been admitted to international exchange programs, and from there, they were asked to transfer money... Tien Phong newspaper has repeatedly warned readers.
