Seoul School of Performing Arts (SOPA) is no stranger to K-pop fans. This prestigious arts school is known as the cradle of many typical Korean idols such as Jisoo ( BlackPink ), Jungkook ( BTS ) and Wonyoung ( Ive ).

In partnership with Raffles College of Music (SRMC), students from Southeast Asian countries can now have the opportunity to experience the curriculum of their favourite idols.

The new school will be the first K-pop international high school in Singapore, called SOPA-SRMC.

During the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing ceremony in Seoul, SOPA Principal Hosung Lim said: "As an educator, I am honored that our educational achievements are recognized globally through the MOU with SRMC in Singapore.

We are determined to go further to enhance SOPA's reputation as an exemplary educational center not only in Korea but also overseas as a K-pop-specialized training facility."

In a press release, SOPA and SRMC announced that they will "accept students from Southeast Asia, primarily Singapore, and provide specialized K-pop education." In addition, SRMC will also facilitate enrollment for Korean students who want to study abroad.

All classes at SOPA-SRMC will be taught in English. In addition, the Korean and Singaporean education systems will also be integrated through a curriculum managed by lecturers from SOPA's Department of Education Systems.

“The school recognises SOPA’s impressive achievements in producing quality graduates with global impact,” said Mr Ryan Goh, CEO of SRMC.

SRMC sees this as “a rare opportunity to bring specialised performing arts education from Korea to Singapore and Southeast Asia. This will showcase the unique value of professional education in the field and provide the impetus to drive industry growth in the region.”

As of now, there is no official announcement regarding the application process for admission to SOPA-SRMC as well as details about the school's curriculum.
